One fix, and if you run Nextcloud 34 it is the only one that matters.
The Nextcloud plugin was dead on NC34 (#42)
@lvarnava upgraded to Nextcloud 34 and found the plugin suggesting nothing at all. Not the groups added in 4.0.7, not contacts, not even the system address book. The same build was fine on NC33.
Nextcloud 34 removed the legacy OC\Server::getXxx() convenience methods. Where stable33 had dozens, stable34 keeps three, and getContactsManager() is not one of them. That call was the first line the suggestions driver ran, so every method in the class died on it together. The new group code was never the problem, which is why the failure looked so total.
The container is still there and OCP\Contacts\IManager has not changed, along with every method the plugin calls on it. Only the way it is fetched had to move:
- \OC::$server->getContactsManager()
+ \OC::$server->get(\OCP\Contacts\IManager::class)The rest of the plugin has fetched things that way for years. This one line had been sitting on the old API since well before the fork.
Update the Nextcloud plugin to 2.39.1 in your installation. The Nextcloud app also goes to 3.2.4 in the App Store.
While looking, RainLoop::import() had the same problem with getSystemConfig(), removed in 34 as well. Nobody had reported it because it only runs when you use the admin import action, but it would have failed the same way. Fixed alongside.
Thanks to @lvarnava for confirming NC33 worked and NC34 did not, and for checking another integration on 34. Narrowing it to the version rather than the feature is what made this quick to find.
The diagnosis was made against the nextcloud/server stable33 and stable34 sources rather than the release notes. I still have no NC34 to test on, so if you are on 34, this is the build to try.
