Release v0.6.0
Added
- When the rest of your cluster no longer recognises this device (the cluster was re-created without it, or it was removed while asleep or offline), ClusterCut now says so: one notification, plus a banner with a Rejoin button that pairs it back in with the cluster's PIN. Device Joined and Device Left notifications pause until it rejoins.
- Choosing a cluster name in Settings (Provisioned) now warns when a different cluster nearby already uses it, and lists those devices. Two clusters with the same name were easy to mix up; the name still saves if you go ahead. Autogenerated names, including the new one after Leave & Reset, now skip names already in use nearby.
- Devices now advertise which cluster they belong to, not just its name. Nearby Clusters shows a different cluster that shares your cluster's name as its own entry, labelled as such. Devices on older versions don't advertise it and are grouped by name as before.
Changed
- Joining a different cluster now replaces your old one instead of merging into it: the old cluster's devices are forgotten, unless they're also in the new one. They used to stay in your device list indefinitely.
- A device that has moved to another cluster is removed from yours once it has refused this one for 5 minutes while the rest of your cluster still accepts it.
Fixed
- False "Device Left" notifications, often several at once a few minutes after waking from sleep, for devices that never actually connected (typically ones that no longer have this device paired). "Device Left" now only appears for a device this one was really talking to.
- Clipboard content sent to a device that no longer has this one paired silently went nowhere, because ClusterCut counted the send as successful. It's now an error, and the log names the device that refused and why.
- Members of one cluster that ended up with different internal cluster IDs (possible after upgrading from 0.2, or after a device with its own peers joined another cluster) ignored each other's membership updates, so one device could keep another paired while that device refused it. They now settle on a single ID.
📦 Installation
Linux
Native Install
ClusterCut is available as a .deb and .rpm file for Debian-based and RedHat-based distributions respectively. It's also available on AUR for Arch and derivatives as clustercut-bin.
Flatpak
ClusterCut is also available via Flatpak.
Tip
Unless you're on GNOME with Wayland, please use the native install. Flatpak does not allow sandboxed applications to monitor the clipboard, so this would severely reduce the usefulness of ClusterCut. On GNOME, this is mitigated via an extension. The Flatpak version also does not support X11.
You can also download the Flatpak bundle below.
macOS
Download the DMG file from the assets of this release.
Windows
Download the EXE file from the assets of this release.
