Star Fox Enhanced 0.0.2 ALPHA
This release expands the native port to the full current platform set and fixes companion-file portability between Windows and Linux.
Highlights
- Native Windows x64 and x86 runtimes.
- Native Linux x64 runtime, including the complete 80-case display/FPS/pace timing matrix.
- Unsigned universal macOS application for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
- Unsigned iOS arm64 device application and Android arm64 development APK.
- Nintendo Switch homebrew NRO plus a local NSP-forwarder helper. The helper requires the user's own dumped keys; no keys are distributed.
- Touch controls are compiled only for iOS and Android. Desktop and Switch builds use their native keyboard/controller inputs and cannot show the mobile overlay.
- Standalone Windows x64 asset/BIN generator for preparing
Starfox-Assets.BINon a PC for mobile and other portable builds. - Optional
Starfox-MSU1.PAKcompanion remains separate from every executable.
Fixed in 0.0.2
- Fixed Linux incorrectly reporting
MSU-1 Music: NOT FOUNDwhen the companion was beside the executable. - Made
Starfox-Assets.BINfingerprints invariant across Windows CRLF and Unix LF checkouts, so a BIN generated on Windows is accepted by Linux, macOS, iOS, Android, and Switch builds of the same version. - Added reliable Linux executable-directory discovery, single-instance locking, settings paths, and headless fallback behavior.
- Corrected the Switch/libnx entry point and portable hosted-build prerequisites.
- Added reproducible hosted packages for every supported target, including a genuine 32-bit Windows build.
The runtime contains no retail cartridge image. On first launch, provide a supported unmodified Star Fox/Starwing ROM or a Starfox-Assets.BIN created from one with the included builder. Full original-game, Star Fox EX, port-team, third-party, and contributor credits are included in CREDITS.md and THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md in every desktop package and in the repository.
This is an early alpha. Back up saves and configuration files before testing.
