KOReader Plugin

New Features

  • Cancel a send in progress: Sending a file now shows a status dialog with a Cancel button for the whole transfer, so you can stop a send that's taking too long or going to the wrong device.

Improvements

  • Stalled transfers give up instead of hanging: If a transfer stops making progress for two minutes, LocalSend now ends it cleanly instead of waiting indefinitely. This applies to sending and receiving, over both the local network and LocalSend Web.
  • Cleaner sleep and Wi-Fi handling while sending: Scans and sends that are still running when your e-reader sleeps or loses Wi-Fi are now stopped properly.
  • Protection against connection floods: The receiver now limits how many connections it accepts at once, the same way the LocalSend app does, so a misbehaving device on your network can't overwhelm it.

Bug Fixes

  • Kindle 3 (Kindle Keyboard) support: Fixed a crash that stopped the receiver a few seconds after starting on the Kindle 3. It also fixes a networking problem on other devices with very old Linux kernels. Thanks @KayOhtie for the detailed report! (#19)
  • No more repeated "File received" notifications: After restarting KOReader, LocalSend no longer re-announces files you had already received, and a transfer right after a restart is no longer missed.
  • Sending to devices on IPv6 networks: Fixed an "Invalid URL escape" error when sending to some devices found over IPv6. Thanks @mergen3107! (#18)

CLI Changes

New Features

  • Send text messages: send --text "..." sends a text message instead of files, and --text - reads it from stdin. LocalSend apps show it as a message, just as when you share text from your phone.

Improvements

  • Updated networking stack: Updated Go dependencies to their latest compatible releases.
  • Connection limits: recv and send --dapi limit simultaneous connections to match the LocalSend app.

Installation

  1. Download the zip for your device's architecture:

    • armv7 — Kindle (all models), Kobo, reMarkable 2, PocketBook
    • arm64 — reMarkable Paper Pro
    • arm-legacy — Kindle 3, Kindle DX, older 32-bit ARM devices

Not sure? Try armv7 first. Use arm-legacy only if armv7 doesn't work on older hardware.

  2. Extract localsend.koplugin to your KOReader plugins directory:

    • Kindle: /mnt/us/koreader/plugins/
    • Kobo: /.adds/koreader/plugins/
    • reMarkable: /home/root/koreader/plugins/
  3. Restart KOReader

See README for usage instructions.
