LineageOS for the Echo Show 5 (2nd Gen), Kiosk Satellite Edition 2026.11.3
This release removes Amazon's wake word engine from the image. I have opted to remove it to avoid potential issues with Amazon and I'd rather spend the time improving the vsWakeWord models.
Changes
- Amazon's wake word engine is gone. The image no longer includes Amazon's wake word engine (Pryon), its libraries or its models for Alexa, Echo, Computer, Amazon and Ziggy. Kiosk Satellite no longer offers Amazon as a wake word engine. If your Show listened with it, Kiosk Satellite listens with vsWakeWord after the update. Alexa stays, since vsWakeWord has it too. A wake word vsWakeWord does not have, such as Echo or Computer, changes to one it has, and Kiosk Satellite updates its wake word selects in Home Assistant to match. The release zip is also about 110 MB smaller.
- The guide warns that Bluetooth slows 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (#42). Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi share one radio on the Show, so with Bluetooth on, Wi-Fi gets less airtime even with nothing paired. On 2.4 GHz that can slow voice audio to Home Assistant below real time. The Bluetooth section now says to join a 5 GHz network or turn Bluetooth off when it is not used. Joining Wi-Fi now recommends the 5 GHz network.
Updating
Install it from the Show's Firmware entity in Home Assistant or from Kiosk Satellite's remote admin. EchoService downloads it, checks it and restarts the Show into TWRP, which installs it and starts Android again. Kiosk Satellite and its settings stay. If your Show cannot get online yet, install this release by hand from TWRP with the steps in the Echo Show 5 guide, leaving out twrp wipe data.
Requirements
The Show needs amonet 2 with TWRP 3.7.0_9-0. See Unlocking. If the Show is on amonet 1, see Updating from amonet 1.
Kiosk Satellite needs to be 2026.11.1 or newer. Its echo canceller is built for the raw microphone the image gives it since 2026.10.7, so update Kiosk Satellite on the Show too.

lineageos-echo-kiosk-satellite-2026.11.3-cronos.zip.sig is the release signature. EchoService checks it before it installs an update. Echo Show 5 releases are tagged cronos-. EchoService only installs those.
