LineageOS for the Echo Dot (2nd Gen), Kiosk Satellite Edition 2026.10.18

This release gives Kiosk Satellite a raw microphone so its echo canceller can settle and adds a mute timeout.

New

  • Mute timeout (#30). biscuit_service mute timeout <seconds> has BiscuitService mute the microphones again once they have been unmuted that long, so they stay muted unless someone just pressed the mute button.

Fixes

  • Kiosk Satellite gets a raw microphone. The image removed the speaker's sound across the seven microphones, fading the removal in while the speaker played and out after it stopped. That moved the echo under Kiosk Satellite's own echo canceller, which needs a fixed echo path, so it never settled. Kiosk Satellite now gets microphone 0 as captured. persist.biscuit.mic_beam 1 brings the speaker removal back.

Changes

  • Unlocking shows each device in its own collapsible section. Each section opens from the device's name, so the page shows only the steps for your device.
  • Updates from your own server (kiosk-satellite#1229). A new guide covers updating an Echo on a network without Internet access from a folder on your own web server, such as a NAS. It has a script that mirrors the newest releases and the adb command that points the Echo at the folder.
  • The kernel version names the release. It said 4.9.337-g3e46726afcbe-dirty, with a build number that counted every kernel build on the build machine. It now says 4.9.337-kiosksatellite-biscuit-2026.10.18, with build #1.
  • Android's build string names the release. Its build number was eng.<user>.<date>, as in lineage_biscuit-userdebug 11 RQ3A.211001.001 eng.builde.20261030.161037 test-keys. It is now the release, as in lineage_biscuit-userdebug 11 RQ3A.211001.001 2026.10.18 test-keys. The build fingerprint has the release too.
  • Joining a Wi-Fi network with a ! in its name or password. The guide's wifi connect command failed with event not found for a name like FRITZ!Box 7590, since bash and zsh read a ! inside double quotes as a history command before the command reaches the Dot. The guide now names ! and $ among the characters to type in a shell on the Dot instead.

Updating

Install it from the Dot's Firmware entity in Home Assistant or from Kiosk Satellite's remote admin. BiscuitService installs it into both slots and restarts the Dot twice. Kiosk Satellite and its settings stay. Keep the Dot on its own power adapter, not a USB hub, or TWRP may not start. If your Dot cannot get online yet, install this release by hand from TWRP with the steps in the Echo Dot guide, leaving out twrp wipe data.

Requirements

The Dot needs amonet v2.0.0 or v2.0.1 with TWRP 3.7.0_9-0. See Unlocking.

Kiosk Satellite needs to be 2026.11.1 or newer. Its echo canceller is built for the raw microphone this release gives it, so update Kiosk Satellite on the Dot too.
