LineageOS for the Echo Dot (2nd Gen), Kiosk Satellite Edition 2026.10.15

The speaker no longer pops after a few seconds of silence and the Dot no longer reboots if it ever suspends.

Fixes

  • The speaker popped when a sound played after a few seconds of silence (#21). Android put the speaker output into standby after 3 seconds without sound, and every standby switched the amplifier off. The next sound, such as the wake chime or the answer after a long thinking phase, popped when the amplifier came back on. The speaker output now stays on, so the amplifier is never switched off between sounds. Bluetooth headphones and speakers still go idle 3 seconds after the last sound.
  • The Dot rebooted if it ever suspended. The image keeps the Dot awake on power and Kiosk Satellite holds it awake too, so it does not suspend in normal use. If it did, the kernel crashed and the Dot rebooted: the sleep code reads registers of the MT8163's MD32 processor, and the Dot's device tree left MD32 off, so they were never mapped. MD32 is now on, as on the Echo Shows, and a forced suspend completes and resumes. Thanks to meiser79 for pointing it out.

Updating

Install it from the Dot's Firmware entity in Home Assistant or from Kiosk Satellite's remote admin. BiscuitService installs it into both slots and restarts the Dot twice. Kiosk Satellite and its settings stay. If your Dot cannot get online yet, install this release by hand from TWRP with the steps in the Echo Dot guide, leaving out twrp wipe data.

To move a Dot from the CM14.1 image to this one, install it by hand. Moving from the CM14.1 image has the steps.

Requirements

The Dot needs amonet v2.0.0 or v2.0.1 with TWRP 3.7.0_9-0. See Unlocking.
