What's new in Kiosk Satellite v0.21.2-beta
New Features
Software volume for Chromebooks and other fixed-volume devices (#62): Some devices, most notably Chromebooks running Android apps, do not allow apps to change the system volume at all, which made the volume entity useless and left audio stuck at whatever level the hardware buttons were on. Kiosk Satellite now detects these devices automatically and applies the volume in software instead, across every audio source: SendSpin playback, Voice Assistant responses and chimes, and DLNA media. The Home Assistant volume slider, the remote admin, and server-side SendSpin volume commands all keep working exactly as before, with the setting remembered across restarts.
Note that software volume can only lower the output below the device's hardware level, so set the hardware volume once to a comfortably high level and control down from there. Audio playing inside the Home Assistant dashboard itself (for example browser_mod media) cannot be reached this way and still follows the hardware volume. On regular Android devices nothing changes.
