What's new in Kiosk Satellite v0.2.0-beta
This is the last release you should ever need to sideload by hand: Kiosk Satellite now updates itself.
In-App Updates
The app checks GitHub for new releases on its own (shortly after start and twice a day). When a newer version is available:
- The main drawer shows an update notice above the theme switcher. Tap it, confirm, and the app downloads the new APK and hands it straight to the Android installer. When you are up to date, the same spot simply shows the running version.
- The web admin shows a green dot on the About section, and a new Updates card in About with an install button. The download runs on the tablet with live progress in the browser; Android asks for its final confirmation on the tablet screen.
- Two new remote API commands,
getUpdateStatusandinstallUpdate, expose the same flow to scripts and automations.
On the first in-app update, Android will ask you once to allow Kiosk Satellite to install apps. Nothing ever downloads or installs without your confirmation.
Bug Fixes
- Pull to refresh now stays fully disabled when the setting is off. Previously the pull gesture could still draw the refresh indicator on dashboard pages and leave it spinning forever.
