What's new in Kiosk Satellite v0.14.1-beta
A reliability release centered on the Sendspin player, plus quality-of-life touches across the remote admin.
Bug Fixes
- The Sendspin player now heals itself through anything the server does. Four separate failure modes could previously leave the player dead until an app restart, which several of you saw as the Music Assistant player entity dropping to unavailable and staying there. A Music Assistant restart or update closes the connection politely, and the player treated that as the end of the session; a reconnect attempt landing while the server was still starting got "connection refused" and gave up for good; the retry ladder stopped permanently after about eight minutes of outage; and a silently dead connection could escape detection entirely. All four are fixed: the player now reconnects after clean closes, retries through refusals, never stops trying (it settles into a quiet five-minute cadence during long outages), detects dead connections it was never told about, and periodically recycles its mDNS discovery so a wedged Android network stack cannot block rediscovery. Verified end to end against a real server outage: twelve refused attempts survived, reconnected within seconds of the server returning, playback sync state preserved across the gap.
- Flipping "Enable Dashboard view rotation" or "Match theme to time of day" in the remote admin no longer feels like a page reload. The dashboard list is now cached instead of re-fetched from Home Assistant on every layout change, and your scroll position is preserved, so dependent settings just appear in place.
Improvements
- The remote admin URL is now published to Home Assistant: a "Remote admin" sensor holds each tablet's admin address (or
disabledwhen remote administration is off), and every Kiosk Satellite device page in Home Assistant now has a Visit button that opens that tablet's admin directly. - Zoom level is now adjustable from 1x to 4x in 0.05 steps for finer control on wall tablets.
- File Manager rows now carry folder and file icons, and the Up button is a proper icon too.
