What's new in Kiosk Satellite v0.13.0-beta
New Features
- Separate screensaver brightness. A new toggle and slider under Settings, Screensaver set a dedicated brightness for while the screensaver is showing, so a clock or photo slideshow can glow gently at night instead of at full daytime brightness. It applies to every mode except Dim and Black (which keep their own levels), restores your normal brightness the moment the screensaver is dismissed, survives app restarts mid-screensaver without leaving the dim level behind, and changes apply live as a preview while the screensaver is up. Both controls are also exposed in Home Assistant as a switch and a slider, so you can automate the level by time of day.
- Ambient light sensor in Home Assistant. Devices with a light sensor now expose an illuminance entity (lux) on their Home Assistant device via MQTT, ready for automations like raising and lowering screen brightness with the light in the room. Readings are damped so small flicker is ignored while big swings (lights on) publish immediately, keeping your recorder database lean. Devices without the hardware simply do not get the entity. If you automate brightness from this sensor, turn Android's adaptive brightness off so the two do not fight.
- Photos only for Immich Media. A new toggle below Media source skips video assets in the slideshow, which is how motion and live photos usually land in Immich, so libraries full of them get a smooth stills-only screensaver instead of short choppy clips between photos.
