What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.9.8

A follow-up to the Media Player release. Now Playing controls that were too small to tell apart are now larger, a single tap that could close the view, and three rough edges around managing Sonos speakers.

Changed: Larger Now Playing controls

  • The volume, shuffle, lyrics and queue toggles on the Now Playing view are a size up, and the speaker beside the volume slider with them. The controls scale down with the short side of the screen, and on an Echo Show 8 that left the four toggles at about half the height of the skip buttons, too small to read as what they are. They now sit just under the skip glyphs in size.

Fixed

  • A single tap no longer dismisses the Now Playing view under Double tap to dismiss. One finger reported twice, the kiosk screen's pointer listener as it landed and the screensaver's gesture detector as it lifted, and a tap held longer than the chain's debounce had its lift counted as the second tap, so a slow tap in the space around the controls closed the view. The lift now reports as the echo of the touch already counted, so the chain counts one tap per finger. A real double tap still closes the view, and taps on the controls are still left alone.
  • Forgetting a Sonos room forgets its household and its pick. Forget dropped the one room, then the next listing read the household back from any other room and brought it back, and a forgotten room that was the picked player kept its place in the Player dropdown and on the Player row even after a reload, since the pick lived on. Forget now drops every room of the household, the mirror of Add, and clears the pick when it named one of them, so the Player row asks again.
  • The remote admin's Player select follows the Sonos page: a speaker added, found or forgotten there shows up in the Media Player page's Player dropdown at once, where before the page had to be reloaded to pick it.
  • Picking a player in the remote admin no longer makes the page jump. The pick re-rendered the whole Media Player page, the intro note above the rows going and coming back with it. The row's warning is now reworded in place and the rest of the page stays put.
