What's New in Kiosk Satellite 2026.9.27
This release adds a horizontal layout for Now Playing, makes clock screensaver colors change on the clock already on screen and fixes mDNS name resolution from Windows.
New Feature: Horizontal Now Playing Layout
- Artwork Left, Details Right: A new Horizontal mode toggle under Now Playing > User Interface, off by default, gives artwork the left half of the screen and centers the title, artist, album name and transport controls together in the right half. Opening the queue or lyrics moves track details beneath the artwork and transport controls to the bottom right, leaving space above them for the panel. Side padding gives the layout more breathing room. The toggle applies immediately and is ignored while Now Playing is shown alongside a screensaver.

- Clock Colors Change on the Clock Already on Screen: The digit, background and flip backdrop colors of the Digital, Flip and Roller clock screensavers used to be picked up at the next minute tick or the next start of the screensaver, so a color written through the remote API by an automation, say a green clock on trash day, showed up late or only after toggling the screensaver off and on. Every color now applies the moment it is written, from the settings page, the remote admin or the API.
- mDNS Names Now Resolve from Windows: The reply to a name lookup carried a second record stating that the kiosk has no IPv6 address, which macOS and Android accepted but the Windows resolver rejected outright, so
pingand the browser on Windows reported no such host while the same name worked everywhere else. The reply is now the address alone.
