What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.9.12
The Now Playing view now allows to add or remove speakers from the group. Plus two fixes: one for lyrics that went missing on common titles and one for the remote admin's Now playing card.
New: Speaker groups
- The chip in the top left corner of the Now Playing view opens a group menu on a tap. The player the music streams from is its title, then the players already in the group, then every player that could join, alphabetical within each and a checkbox on every row. Checking a row puts that player on what is playing, unchecking takes it off, and the row spins until the source reports the group back.
- This device's own player groups through Music Assistant with the players it can sync with. A followed Music Assistant player groups with whatever Music Assistant lets it sync with. A Sonos room followed directly groups with the other rooms of its household over the speakers' own interface, no Music Assistant needed. A Home Assistant media player keeps its grouping with the integration behind it and shows no menu.
- The menu reads the same from every member of a group. On a player that follows another, the title names the leader with Leads the group under it, and the player itself is a row of its own, tagged This device, which unchecked leaves the group.
- The chip now names this device's own player too, where it only named a followed one, and the cover block sits a little lower in every layout to stay clear of it. A Show speaker selection pill switch under the Player row on the Media Player page, on by default, takes the chip and its menu off the view.
Fixed
- Lyrics from LRCLIB find tracks with common titles. The client asked LRCLIB by title alone and picked from the twenty answers it sends back, so a track called "Crush" or "5am" lost its place to namesakes and showed no lyrics; Music Assistant used to be asked first and hid it. The client now asks for the exact title and artist first, then searches by title and artist, and only then falls back to the title-only search.
- The remote admin's Now playing card shows the followed player's track. With a Music Assistant, Sonos or Home Assistant player picked, the card carried the device's own idle Sendspin queue and read Unknown track with no art. It now carries the followed player's title, artist, album, cover and transport, the same snapshot the Now Playing view on the device plays from.
