What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.9.10

A reworked remote admin Overview with a Needs attention card, status tiles that open their pages, a smarter screenshot, a Now playing card and a Master Volume slider. Alongside it, an automation can now change the dashboard a kiosk comes back to, replacing the access token signs the dashboard in as the new user and the At a Glance chips follow the Clock screensaver's Night mode.

Changed: the remote admin Overview

  • The Overview page is now more functional. A Needs attention card lists an update to install, a grant a switched-on feature is missing, a lost Home Assistant connection or a stopped wake word engine, each with its button, and stays out of the way while there is nothing. Status tiles for Home Assistant, Voice Satellite, ESPHome, Media Player, the Kiosk Satellite Service and updates each open their page.
  • The screenshot wears a badge while the panel is dark, on the screensaver or showing a camera view, with a Still or Live toggle, how long ago it was taken, full size and download in place of the old Refresh button and page address.
  • A Now playing card with previous, play or pause and next appears while the media player has a track, a Master Volume slider sits under Brightness and the quick controls gain Postpone screensaver, Take snapshot and Check for updates in smaller tiles.

Added: a Default dashboard select

  • A Default dashboard select among the ESPHome configuration entities. The Dashboard view select only navigates for the moment, so a kiosk that crashed or restarted came back on whatever dashboard was picked on the device or in the remote admin. The new select carries the same dashboard/view options and rewrites the start URL while leaving the page where it is, so an automation can make the night dashboard the one the kiosk always returns to, on the next restart and on the Go to dashboard button, and use the Dashboard view select when it should show right away.

Fixed

  • Replacing the long-lived access token now signs the dashboard in as the new token's user. The automatic login only ever seeded the dashboard's session while it had none, so once a kiosk had signed in with the first token, a new token typed into Settings or brought in by a settings import changed nothing in the dashboard, which stayed logged in as the first user until the app was reinstalled. Saving a new token now reloads the dashboard with it, and a session the app seeded for an earlier token gives way. A login someone did by hand on the Home Assistant login page is left alone as before.
  • The At a Glance chips follow the Clock screensaver's Night mode. The Night color reached the row only in the Floating text style, so with the default chips the white pills, their icon circles and state colors stayed lit beside the dimmed digits. In the dark the chips are now drawn in the Night color alone, the pill and circle as faint washes of it, the name and value in it outright, and the state colors stand down until the light returns.
