What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.8.69

A quality of life release: a freshly set up kiosk now logs itself into Home Assistant, the setup wizard explains itself better, and Music Assistant gets a dashboard button.

Added: The dashboard signs itself in

  • A new "Log in automatically" toggle in the Home Assistant settings (on by default) hands the dashboard a session built from the long-lived access token the app already holds, so a freshly set up kiosk lands straight on its dashboard instead of the Home Assistant login form. A login someone did by hand, or a session the page already has, is never overwritten, and turning the toggle off stops future sign-ins without logging anything out. It also works with the secure context proxy on, and if the token is ever revoked the normal login form returns.
  • During the on-boarding process, a Home Assistant session is automatically created using the long-lived token.

Added: Show Music Assistant button

  • A "Show Music Assistant" button on the kiosk's Home Assistant device, over both the ESPHome and MQTT integrations. Pressing it wakes the screen, brings the kiosk forward and opens the Music Assistant web interface over the dashboard, the same page the kiosk menu entry opens. The button exists only while a Music Assistant server address is configured, appearing and retiring on its own as the address is set or cleared.

Added: Voice Satellite debug logging switch

  • A "Debug logging" switch in the Voice Satellite settings' General group, on the device and in the remote admin. It flips the same browser-console logging the Voice Satellite sidebar panel offers, so wake word scores and pipeline events can be turned on without leaving the kiosk's settings. Shown once the installed Voice Satellite version supports controlling it externally.

Changed: A clearer setup wizard (#255)

  • The wizard's first step now calls out, on its own highlighted row, that setup can be continued from a web browser at the device's address whether remote administration is kept on or not, so the address is never a mystery once you move past the first screen.
  • The satellite step now reminds that a new device needs its own satellite entity, with the Home Assistant menu path to create one (Settings → Devices & Services → Voice Satellite → Add Entry), since two devices cannot share the same entity. The reminder appears in the on-device and the remote wizard alike.
