What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.8.24
Clap at your kiosk: the Gestures page gains a Claps trigger that fires any gesture action on 2, 3 or 4 claps, with or without Voice Satellite, and camera views can now close on their own after a while.
New Feature: 👏 The Clapper 👏
- The Gestures page has a new trigger, Claps: map 2, 3 or 4 claps to any gesture action, and a light scene, a camera view or the screensaver is two claps away from across the room. Born on a night table, from wanting to peek at the dashboard without reaching over to touch the screen.
- Detection is plain arithmetic on the microphone stream, no models and no cloud, with thresholds that adapt to the room's noise level, so it runs comfortably on the weakest supported devices and keeps working over background music.
- It works with or without Voice Satellite. With the integration's wake word detection running natively, clap detection shares the microphone that is already open at zero extra cost; without it, the app opens the microphone itself while at least one claps mapping exists, asking for the Microphone permission if it was never granted.
- Claps know when to stay quiet: during a voice interaction, while the satellite is muted (muting closes the microphone, claps included), in Lockdown Mode, and under kiosk mode's Disable Gestures.

New Feature: Auto-dismiss for camera views
- Auto-dismiss after (Camera Streams, then Playback; off by default) closes an opened camera view on its own after 30 seconds to 5 minutes, so a view brought up in passing does not stream forever on a wall panel.
- Focusing a camera restarts the countdown, and it applies however the view was opened: a gesture, the menu, MQTT or the remote admin. The camera screensaver is unaffected, since that is the screensaver showing cameras rather than a view over the dashboard.
Improvements
- A new Stop the screensaver gesture action. Redundant for touch, since any tap dismisses, but exactly right for claps: the screen comes back from across the room with full hands.
- The Show a camera view gesture action now toggles: perform the same gesture again and the view it opened closes, so one clap sequence is both the open and the close. The explicit close action stays for closing whatever view is up.
