What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.8.105
Two Immich screensaver filters get what they were missing: a window you can pin to a date instead of one that walks forward every night, and people hidden in Immich showing up in the People pickers. Plus an App version sensor for the ESPHome integration and a rework of the screensaver Fill the screen feature.
New Feature: Immich screensaver new filters Since and Timeframe
- Since and Timeframe join the end of the Immich screensaver's Taken within choices (#383), on the device and in the remote admin alike. Since reveals a From date and shows everything taken from that day on. Timeframe reveals From and To and shows the days between them, both ends counting whole.
- Both dates are picked off a calendar rather than typed, the same picker on both surfaces. Tap the month heading to jump straight to a year, so a date decades back is a couple of taps rather than hundreds on the chevrons. Clear puts an end back to open, and Any time drops the filter altogether.
Improvement: Screensaver Fill the screen rework
- Fill the screen is now a choice of Off, Smart or Always in all four photo screensavers, Home Assistant Media, Local Media, Photo Gallery and Immich Media (#378). The switch only ever cropped a photo already shaped close to the panel and framed everything else over a blurred backdrop, which leaves a 4:3 camera photo on a 2:1 panel such as an Echo Show 5 sitting between bars with no way to overrule it. Always crops every photo to the edges whatever its shape, cutting off whatever does not fit. Smart is what the switch on did, and an existing install keeps its behavior.
Improvement: Immich hidden people are now visible
- The People and Exclude people pickers now list the people you have hidden in Immich too, marked Hidden under the name with a struck-out eye (#382). Hiding a person only takes them out of Immich's own listings, and both filters keep working on them, so a hidden face you never want on the frame can be excluded, and a hidden person you do want can be shown, without unhiding them in Immich first. A person hidden after being picked also no longer drops out of the filter the next time the row is saved.
Added: ESPHome App version sensor
- An App version diagnostic sensor on the ESPHome integration, holding the Kiosk Satellite release the device is running (#381). The Update entity only says whether a newer release exists, and a fleet dashboard listing every kiosk's version, or an automation that fires once a tablet reaches a version, had nothing to read.
