What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.11.8
This release adds two controls for video calls: automatic answering with the camera on and a Switch camera button. It also adds more options for alarm phrases and the Up next widget, narrows dashboard filtering for auto-entities and fixes dashboard recovery, Bluetooth proxy scanning and proximity detection on the Lenovo Smart Clock.
Improvements
- Answer video calls automatically with the camera on. The new Answer with camera on switch, off by default, appears under Answer mode when Answer automatically is picked. A call from a kiosk with its camera on then opens with the camera on, and the countdown says so. Voice calls stay voice only, pressing Voice only during the countdown keeps the camera off and Fleet Management never syncs the switch.
- Switch camera in a video call. On a device with a front and a back camera, Switch camera now appears under the kiosk's name and call time after a tap on the screen. The next call starts on the camera picked in settings.
- More variables for spoken alarm phrases (#1309). A phrase can now use
{name},{hour},{minute},{date},{dayofmonth},{month}and{year}, so a phrase can avoid a time or date that a text to speech engine reads badly.{name}is the Home Assistant user the kiosk's token belongs to.{day}is still the day of the week, so existing phrases say the same thing. The hint under the Phrase box lists every variable. - Hide all-day events on the Up next widget (#1312). The widget has a new Show all-day events switch, on by default. Turn it off to list only events with a start time, so holidays and other all-day entries do not take up the widget's slots.
- Dashboard filtering narrows auto-entities by fixed attributes (#1314). An include that tests
device_class,unit_of_measurementorstate_classnow limits the entities a view watches, the same waydomaindoes. A battery list withdomain: sensoranddevice_class: batteryno longer watches every sensor, and a view with only one of these attributes no longer runs unfiltered. A helper that gets one of these attributes later is picked up automatically.
Fixes
- A dashboard with a hash in its URL recovers after an outage (#1311). A reload of a URL with a hash, such as a Bubble Card popup address, did nothing, so the dashboard stayed on Home Assistant's "Unable to connect" screen until the app restarted. The kiosk's outage repair, the Retry button, pull to refresh with cache clearing, Clear web cache and a page's own
location.reload()now all reload the page. A load of the same hash URL from the loadUrl command or an automation is now a reload too, as it already was for a URL with no hash. - Going home closes a popup (#1311). A dashboard view with a hash in the page's URL no longer counts as the same view when the requested path has no hash. Going home, rotation and the ESPHome view select now close an open popup, such as a Bubble Card popup, without reloading the page.
- auto-entities filters match the same entities as the card (#1314). With Filter dashboard updates on, some auto-entities cards stopped updating because the filter matched rules more narrowly than the card does. An
integrationrule made in the visual editor saves a config entry, which the filter did not recognize. Alabelrule now also matches labels on an entity's device and label names. Every rule now accepts the same globs and regular expressions as the card. A rule value the filter cannot resolve, such as a comparison, leaves the view unfiltered. - The Bluetooth proxy recovers from a late scan registration (#1310). On Android 8.0 to 9, one scan registration that answered after Android's 2 second limit left the proxy relaying nothing until Bluetooth was toggled or the device rebooted. The app also restarted the adapter only once per run. The adapter now restarts if a scan goes silent after a registration failure. On Android 12L and older, a restart that brought advertisements back can repeat after 30 minutes. If registration gets slow on Android 8.0 to 9, scan sessions rotate every 30 minutes instead of every 2 minutes until it speeds up. Devices that register on time keep the 2 minute rotation.
- Proximity detection works on the Lenovo Smart Clock (#1315). Its sensor reports raw counts that rise as something comes closer, so Dismiss on proximity and Postpone screensaver on proximity never saw an approach. A clear rise over the resting reading now counts as one, as on the NSPanel Pro.
