What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.8
This release lets the remote admin work behind a reverse proxy under a sub-path, such as Home Assistant ingress. It also fixes dashboard cameras that played as a slideshow after the screensaver.
Improvements
- Remote admin behind a reverse proxy. The remote admin now works when a reverse proxy serves it under a sub-path, such as Home Assistant ingress or an nginx location like
/kiosk/(#850). Its API calls and websocket now go to the page's own path. Before, they went to the root of the address, which is the proxy itself. Behind a proxy each tablet keeps its own login, so tablets served from the same address no longer log each other out. Turning HTTPS on or off behind a proxy no longer sends the browser to the proxy's address with the other protocol. Opened directly on the tablet, the page works the same as before.
Fixes
- Dashboard cameras no longer get stuck on still images. A Home Assistant camera card with a live view could play as a slideshow after the screensaver, while the same dashboard played smoothly in a browser. Kiosk Satellite pauses dashboard cameras under the screensaver, so each camera starts a fresh live stream when the screensaver closes. If one of those starts failed, Home Assistant switched the card to still images for good and never tried the live stream again. The kiosk now has Home Assistant check for each camera's live stream every time the cameras resume, so one failed start no longer sticks. A camera also goes back to WebRTC once Home Assistant offers it again.
