What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.5
This release adds speech speed and reasoning effort settings for realtime conversations. It also makes Voice Satellite answers play on Music Assistant speakers and stops an app update or Restart app from switching every plugin off.
Improvements
- Speech speed for realtime conversations. Voice Satellite > Realtime gains Speech speed, from 0.5x to 1.5x, which sets how fast the model talks with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI and xAI Grok. OpenAI refuses a session above 1.5x, so the range stops there for every provider.
- Reasoning effort for OpenAI realtime conversations. The OpenAI provider's Configure dialog gains Reasoning effort, from Minimal to Extra high, for OpenAI and Azure OpenAI. More effort gets harder questions right more often. Only the gpt-realtime-2 models accept it, and Save & Validate says so when an older model refuses it. Model default sends nothing, so current setups are unchanged.
Fixes
- An app update or Restart app no longer switches every plugin off. Installing an update and restarting within 30 seconds left every plugin disabled with "Disabled after an incomplete plugin startup" and removed their entities from Home Assistant (#823). An app update, Restart app and Exit no longer count as a failed startup, and it now takes two incomplete startups in a row to switch the plugins off.
- Voice Satellite answers and announcements play on Music Assistant speakers. With Play sounds on set to a Music Assistant player, only the chimes played and the answer, announcements and timer phrase stayed quiet. Music Assistant players now get a full address they accept. Announcements on a Music Assistant player also no longer leave the satellite waiting on a timeout of up to two minutes.
- Realtime keys are Fleet Management credentials. The OpenAI and xAI API keys and the MCP server token synced silently with the Voice Satellite category, though followers could not validate them. They are now switches under Synced Credentials, off by default because each provider bills per use. A kiosk that receives a new realtime key from a leader or a settings import now validates it on its own.
- Now Playing clears the cover and album of a track that has none. Playing a file with no cover after a Music Assistant track, such as an MP3 from Home Assistant's My media, kept the previous track's cover and album. A new track now replaces both.
