What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.39
This release adds sorting, genre browsing and display settings to the Music Library, a fine-tune slider for wake word sensitivity on every engine and a separate skin for each assistant. It also fixes microWakeWord models that never woke on Slightly sensitive and the At a Glance row reconnecting every 40 seconds.
New Feature: Music Library updates
- Sort the lists (#1129). A sort button next to the title of each Music Assistant list orders it A to Z, Z to A, recently played, recently added or most played. Each list keeps its own order. On Artists the same menu has Album artists only, which hides the artists who only appear on a few tracks of a compilation.
- Browse by genre (#1129). Discover now ends with a Browse by genre grid, as on Music Assistant's Discover page, with the eight genres that have the most music in your library. Each genre gets an icon in the app's own style, picked from its name. Tap one to see its artists, albums and the other rows Music Assistant shows for it. Rows that mix kinds, such as Recently played, now say under each entry whether it is a track, an album, an artist or a playlist. Browse shows each music provider's logo.
- Text scale, square artwork and grid density (#1129). A new User Interface group under Media Player > Music Library has Text scale, which sizes the library's text from 50% to 200% as Now Playing's does. Square artwork shows artists in square tiles like albums. Grid density shows one more or one fewer tile in each row. Rows and menus grow with the text scale. The title at the top, the navigation, the pickers and the player bar's track and times grow at a slower rate than the rest.
- Taps get an answer at once (#1129). Tapping something to play puts a spinner over its cover, and the player bar shows it with Loading… until the speaker starts it. Play and pause change right away, and a ring around the play button shows until the speaker answers a play, a pause or a skip.
Improvements
- Fine-tune the wake word sensitivity (#1134). A new Fine-tune sensitivity slider below Wake word sensitivity under Voice Satellite > Wake Word adjusts the sensitivity in smaller steps, from -10 to +10, and goes past Slightly and Very sensitive at its ends. Raise it if you often have to repeat the wake word and lower it if the kiosk wakes by mistake. It works with every wake word engine. At +3 on Very sensitive, Hey Luna on vsWakeWord wakes at 6.7 instead of 7.2. The default of 0 keeps the current behavior and the stop word keeps the picked sensitivity. Wake word sensitivity stays a select because Home Assistant's sensitivity entity only offers those three choices. The setting belongs to each device and fleets do not sync it.
- Talk over sensitivity for realtime conversations (#1130). A new Talk over sensitivity slider under Voice Satellite > Realtime sets how loud you have to be to interrupt an answer. Raise it if interrupting does not work on a device with a quiet microphone. Higher values can make the assistant interrupt itself with its own voice, and lower values help a device that keeps doing that. The default of 50 keeps the current behavior. The setting belongs to each device and fleets do not sync it. The log now also says why each interruption was taken or ignored, with the levels it was measured against.
- A skin for each assistant (#1121). Skin under Voice Satellite > Appearance is now Assistant 1 skin, and a new Assistant 2 skin sits below it. Turns that wake word 2 starts and
vs_showactions on pipeline 2 use Assistant 2's skin, so you can tell at a glance which assistant heard you. Announcements and conversations Home Assistant starts use Assistant 1's skin because Home Assistant runs them on Assistant 1. After the update, Assistant 2 keeps the skin it had. Plugin skins work for either setting, and a plugin'svoice.skinevent now follows the assistant answering. - Plugins can open launcher apps (#1122). A plugin with
host.controlcan open an app withlaunchApp, and a plugin withhost.readcan list the apps it may open withgetLauncherApps. Plugins can only open the apps added under App Launcher > Apps. While Kiosk Mode is on, only the apps under Kiosk Mode > Allowed Actions > Allowed Apps open, and none open when the Apps action is not allowed. Plugins open no apps while the App Launcher is off or Lockdown Mode is on. - Web pages can read the health endpoint (#1128).
GET /api/healthnow sendsAccess-Control-Allow-Origin: *, so a web page of your own, on any address, can read each kiosk's name, version and the rest of its health report without a proxy. It still needs no token. The report also says whether the kiosk leads a fleet inleaderand which leader it follows infollows.
Fixes
- microWakeWord wakes on Slightly sensitive (#1134). On Slightly sensitive, Hey Jarvis, Hey Luna, Hey Home Assistant, Hey Mycroft, Okay Computer, Hey Baby and other models with a cutoff of 0.95 or higher never woke. The setting raised their cutoff above 1.0, which no detection can reach. The cutoff now stays below 1.0 and halves the room left above it, as Voice Satellite's browser engine does. Moderately and Very sensitive and the stop word are unchanged.
- vsWakeWord near misses get a score (#1135). With Wake word diagnostics on, vsWakeWord never recorded a near miss, and the Wake Word Tester showed a score of 0 for every miss, even one that decoded the wake word exactly. A miss now carries the confidence of the closest match and the gate it fell short of, so diagnostics records near misses and the tester shows how close each one got. Detection is unchanged.
- At a Glance stays connected (#1131). The At a Glance row's connection to Home Assistant dropped 40 seconds after it opened and reconnected. For a Home Assistant user with no language set in the profile, it kept doing that all day while the screensaver was up, and states never read in the server's language. Home Assistant rejected the first ping and the server language lookup because their message ids were out of order. The ids now go up in the order the messages are sent.
- Camera entities come back right after a reconnect (#1118). Each time Home Assistant reconnected to the kiosk, the Screenshot and Camera entities stayed unavailable for up to 5 minutes, until Home Assistant's next camera refresh. The kiosk now sends a frame for each camera as Home Assistant reconnects, so both are available again with the other entities.
- Discover shows Music Assistant's recommendations (#1129). Since Music Assistant 2.10, the library's Discover page ignored the rows Music Assistant recommends and always showed its own fallback rows. It now loads Music Assistant's rows and follows the layout saved on Music Assistant's own Discover page, with the same rows hidden, shown and in the same order.
- The Music Library's queue fits a tablet in portrait (#1129). On a tablet in portrait the queue docked beside the sidebar and left the list almost no room. It now takes the list's place there until you close it, as on a phone.
