What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.27
Fleet Management can now install the leader's plugins on its followers with their settings, and each Voice Satellite chime has a volume of its own.
New Feature: Plugins in Fleet Management
- A Plugins row on each profile. Each profile has a new Plugins row that picks which of the leader's plugins its kiosks get. Followers install the same package the leader runs, sent over the local network, then take its settings, whether it is enabled and where its actions show in the drawer and in Home Assistant.
- Updates follow the leader. Updating, reinstalling or removing a plugin on the leader does the same on its followers at the next sync. A follower only removes plugins the fleet installed, so a plugin it had before stays.
- Secrets stay home unless you say so. Secret plugin settings, such as a token, travel only when the profile includes the new Plugin secrets credential. Otherwise each follower keeps its own.
- Each kiosk still decides what runs. Enable Plugins stays on each kiosk. A follower with it off installs and configures the plugins but runs them only once it is switched on.
- Local changes and failures. A change to a synced plugin on a follower is replaced at the next sync, and its Plugin Manager page says so. A plugin that fails to install on a follower shows on its row on the leader with the reason.
- Plugins installed on an earlier version. The leader now keeps a copy of each package it installs. A repository plugin installed on an earlier version is fetched again from its GitHub release. A plugin installed from a ZIP on an earlier version has to be installed again on the leader before it can sync.
New Feature: A volume for each chime
- Chime volumes (#998). The Chimes page under Voice Satellite has a volume slider under each sound: wake, done, error, timer and announcement. Each one is a share of the Assistant volume, so a chime that plays louder than the voice responses can be turned down without turning those down too. They apply to chimes the kiosk plays itself, including previews, and default to 100%.
Improvements
- Louder built-in chimes. The built-in wake, done, error, timer and announcement sounds play about 15% louder. With a volume for each chime, they can now be turned down but not up, so they start higher.
