What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.24
Now Playing gets a new Album art only layout that shows nothing but the cover until you tap the screen. The speaker selection pill can now offer only the speakers you pick, and a Sonos playing its TV or line-in input through Music Assistant no longer holds the screensaver off.
New Feature: Album art only Now Playing layout
- Layout mode replaces Horizontal mode. The Horizontal mode switch under Settings > Media Player > Now Playing > User Interface is now Layout mode, a choice of Vertical, Horizontal and Album art only. Kiosks that had Horizontal mode on keep the Horizontal layout, and the rest keep Vertical.
- Just the album art. Album art only shows the album art alone, centered and as large as the screen allows.
- Controls on a tap. A tap or a key press dims the view and brings up the track details, playback controls and close button, with the controls at the bottom of the screen. They fade out again 5 seconds after the last touch, like the speaker pill. The tap that brings them up never presses a button by accident.
- Lyrics and the queue still work. Opening either switches to the Vertical layout until the panel closes.
Improvements
- Filter the speaker selection pill. A new row on the Now Playing page, under Show speaker selection pill, picks which speakers the pill's group menu offers, so a kitchen tablet can leave the bedroom speakers out. It lists Music Assistant players and Sonos rooms together, with All, Music Assistant and Sonos chips to show one source at a time. Speakers already in the group always show so they can be taken out, and leaving it empty offers every speaker as before. The filter is kept per kiosk.
- Show TV and line-in for Music Assistant players. A Sonos followed through Music Assistant now reads as idle while it plays its TV (HDMI ARC or optical) or line-in input, the same way it does on the Sonos source, so a soundbar under a television no longer holds the screensaver off with a card named TV. A new Show TV and line-in switch on the Music Assistant page, off by default, brings the card and the Now Playing view back for the input, named TV or Line-in, with stop and volume. Music played through Music Assistant to the same speaker, including a turntable streamed through it, still shows as before.
- Brighter Now Playing toggles. The volume, favorite, shuffle, repeat, lyrics and queue buttons are brighter while off in every layout, so they no longer fade into the artwork.
Fixes
- At a Glance keeps an entity's own icon after its state changes. On the Weather Mood screensaver, an entity with an icon set in Home Assistant switched to Kiosk Satellite's built-in icon for its type the first time its state changed and kept it until the app restarted. The icon from Home Assistant now stays, and the built-in one shows only for entities without one.
