What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.23

Plugin settings can now be lists you edit right on the plugin's page, with dashboard and camera view pickers and settings can show only when they apply. Plugin overlays can open next to what opened them and close on a tap anywhere else. They can also fade, slide or scale in and draw any Material Design Icon. A plugin's bar can now keep the dashboard clear of it, so no card-mod padding is needed.

Improvements

  • List settings for plugins. Plugins can now declare a list setting, a set of rows you add, edit, reorder and delete, such as the items of a navigation bar. The rows show right on the plugin's page with their icon, name and a summary. Tap one to edit it in a modal, drag its handle to move it or tap the add row for a new one. Each row is a small form, and a row can hold a list of its own, like a menu's entries, which opens inside the same modal. Save stays off until every required field is filled in. Remote Admin works the same way and also moves rows with arrow buttons. The plugin receives the list as rows in the order you set. See Creating plugins.
  • Icon, dashboard and camera view pickers for plugin settings. Plugins can now declare icon, dashboard and cameraView settings, on their own or inside a list. Each opens the app's own picker: every Material Design Icon searchable by name, the dashboard and view picker and the kiosk's camera views by name. You no longer type icon names, view paths or 32-character camera view IDs.
  • Plugin settings that show only when they apply. A plugin setting can now declare visibleWhen, so it shows only while another setting holds a certain value, such as a delay that only matters while its feature is on. Hidden settings keep their saved values.
  • Plugin bars no longer cover the dashboard. A plugin can now reserve space along the screen edges with setContentInsets, and Home Assistant pads its views, dialogs and toasts by it, so the last cards scroll clear of a navigation bar while the dashboard's background still runs under it. HA kiosk mode keeps the space when it hides the header or the sidebar, and the dashboard carousel's dots move up too. Custom pages can read the same space from --ks-content-inset-* CSS variables. The space goes back when the plugin's bar leaves or the plugin stops.
  • Plugin overlays can sit anywhere and close like a popup. A plugin overlay can now take a different inset from each edge and an offset from its anchor, which Kiosk Satellite keeps on screen, so a menu can open right above the item that opened it. With closeOnOutsideTouch a tap anywhere else closes it, either taking the tap or passing it on to the dashboard.
  • Plugin overlays can fade, slide and scale. Overlays can now animate in when shown and out when hidden, replaced or closed. The view stays until its exit ends.
  • Plugins can draw Material Design Icons natively. KsTheme.icon gives native overlays any MDI icon from Kiosk Satellite's own set as a drawable in a theme color, so plugins no longer bundle an icon font.
  • Plugins can list camera views and dashboards. Two new reads, getCameraViews and getDashboards, give plugins the kiosk's camera views by name and Home Assistant's dashboards with their views, ready to pass to showCameraView and haNavigate. Neither includes stream URLs, credentials or card configuration.
  • Plugins can read their own bundled files. host.assetPath and host.openAsset give plugin code a verified file from its package's assets/ folder, such as a font, so it no longer has to embed one in its code.
  • Plugins can open views with a query string. haNavigate now accepts paths such as cameras/0?camera=garage, which the Advanced Camera Card and similar cards read, and still navigates without reloading the page.

Fixes

  • Plugin dropdowns match the rest of Settings. A plugin's choice settings on the kiosk now use the same dropdown as every other setting, with the same size, fill and remote focus highlight, and move under their title on narrow screens.
  • haNavigate reported failure to plugins after a successful move. It now returns true once the page is on the view, including when it already was.
