What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.14
This release lets Home Assistant and dashboards control Voice Satellite timers and lets you choose where Now Playing lands when dismissed. It also keeps weather conditions in Home Assistant's language and deletes the Immich cache when it is turned off.
New Feature: Voice Satellite timer control
- Timer sensors. New VS Timers and VS Next timer sensors count the timers that are running or paused and show when the next one ends, so a card counts down to it on its own (#897).
- Timer actions. The
vs_list_timersaction returns every timer with its ID, name, time left and end time.vs_pause_timer,vs_resume_timer,vs_cancel_timer,vs_add_timeandvs_remove_timechange one timer by its ID, or the only one when the ID is empty. - Dashboard API. Dashboards running on the kiosk get the same through the JavaScript API:
getVoiceTimers, controlVoiceTimerand akiosksatellite:voice-timersevent after every change. - Matching limits. Home Assistant finds a timer by its name or starting duration, so two timers on one kiosk with the same name, or two unnamed timers with the same duration, cannot be told apart. The change then fails with an error that says so.
Improvements
- Choose where Now Playing lands when dismissed. Settings > Media Player > Now Playing gains After dismissing (#899). Last view goes back to the view the kiosk showed when the screensaver started, instead of always the home view when Return to home dashboard view is on. Chosen view always opens one view, picked with Dashboard view, for playback started from another kiosk, the Music Assistant app or a voice command. Both also apply when Now Playing closes because the music stopped. Default keeps the current behavior.
Fixes
- Weather conditions stay in Home Assistant's language. The screensaver weather widget sometimes showed conditions in English, such as "Rainy" instead of "Pluvieux" on a French Home Assistant (#900). If Home Assistant was unreachable when the widget first asked for its wording, the kiosk treated it as an English server until the app restarted. The wording now arrives with the weather itself and is asked for again on every reconnect. Weather Mood's weather bar gets the same fix.
- Turning off the Immich cache deletes the cached media. Turning off Cache media locally stopped new copies but left the old ones on the device, with no way to delete them (#895). The cache is now deleted when the setting is turned off. Copies left from before the update are deleted the next time the app starts.
- Tapping a timer pill works for every unnamed timer. Pausing or cancelling an unnamed timer from its pill failed when its duration was asked for in a different unit than the pill assumed, such as a timer for 90 seconds. The kiosk now tries each way the duration could have been said.
