What's new in Kiosk Satellite 2026.10.12

This release brings timers to realtime conversations and gives plugins more to work with: they can now trigger gestures and follow the Voice Satellite and intercom states. Voice Satellite error toasts also close on their own.

Improvements

  • Timers in realtime conversations. OpenAI, xAI Grok and Gemini can now start, change, pause and cancel timers on the kiosk, just like Assist. Timers started in a realtime conversation show the same countdown and ring the same alert. This needs Home Assistant 2026.10 or later, which only offers the timer tools when it knows which device is asking. Kiosk Satellite now sends its ESPHome device with every tool request.
  • Plugins can trigger gestures. Settings > Gestures gains a Plugin trigger gesture, so a plugin can start any gesture action, from a dashboard view to a Home Assistant script (#888). A plugin declares its triggers in its manifest and fires one with host.fireTrigger when it notices something, such as a hardware button press. Lockdown Mode and Disable Gestures silence plugin triggers like the other gestures. Mappings that use a plugin trigger stay on their kiosk and are not synced to the fleet.
  • Plugins can follow Voice Satellite. Plugins with host.read can now read the Voice Satellite state with getVoiceState and subscribe to voice.state for each change between idle, listening, processing and responding (#887). It matches the Voice Satellite sensor on the ESPHome device. It also covers realtime conversations, which Home Assistant's assist_satellite entity shows as idle. A plugin such as an LED ring can follow the kiosk's own turns with no entity to pick and no trip through Home Assistant. This works with the native Voice Satellite runtime.
  • Plugins can follow the intercom. Plugins with host.read can now read the intercom with getIntercomState and subscribe to intercom.state. Both carry the same state, other kiosk and Do not disturb values as the Intercom entities on the ESPHome device, so a plugin can light up while a call rings or when a kiosk misses one. The event fires only when one of those values changes.
  • Voice Satellite errors close on their own. An error toast, such as a failed speech-to-text step, now closes after 10 seconds instead of staying on screen until someone taps Close (#885). Close still dismisses it right away.
