World War VR v0.4.0-beta.7 — Jungle Foliage Update

pre-release9 hours ago

A free beta update for Call of Duty: World at War (2008), focused on jungle foliage. No Patreon subscription is required.

What changed

  • Grass and shrubs with short cutoffs remain visible farther away.
  • Audited dense ground cover and selected mangrove/birch profiles retain fuller leaves and detail, addressing the reported blurry-to-full-leaf transition.
  • Beta.6's controls, reload, handling and targeted sight corrections are retained.

The reported jungle foliage issue passed a local headset check after focused OpenXR Tester work. The exact retained gameplay DLL passed 102 native tests and 27,431 foliage ABI checks. Changes are targeted: ordinary visibility checks, authored tree endpoints and shared asset/texture data remain intact.

Download and update

Download WorldWarVR-v0.4.0-beta.7-Portable.zip to play. Close the game and old launcher, extract into a new empty folder, keep all files together, then run WorldWarVR.exe after connecting your headset and controllers. Do not merge builds or extract into the game installation.

Select your legitimate compatible World at War 1.7 installation and start with Performance quality; use Recovery if needed. Complete corresponding source, including pinned dependencies, is in the separate Source.zip. Source is optional to play and free. Checksums and the GPL source notice accompany both downloads. GitHub's autogenerated source archives are not the player package.

Still being worked on

Low FPS and stutter remain under investigation. Fuller foliage can be more demanding. This release excludes the later private performance experiments and does not promise COD4 VR frame rates, infinite draw distance or every-map pop-in elimination.

Practical enemy-grenade throwback remains unresolved and disabled. Existing weapon, keyboard-prompt, startup/runtime and regional compatibility cases remain open. If Regional Compatibility Test1 works for you, keep that folder intact; its launcher validation change is not included here. Local/offline Multiplayer is experimental; online/public/protected servers are unsupported.

Coverage is focused, not a new full Campaign replay or certification of every weapon/headset. Please report the exact ZIP, headset/connection/runtime, map, weapon and reproducible steps through GitHub Issues or your existing support conversation. Review logs for personal information; do not upload game executables, keys or saves.
