4.0 pre-release. This is a test release of 4.0. 4.0 is the first version that can show Home Assistant's vector map under the radar. It is developed on its own branch. 3.13.0 is the current stable release. Bug fixes go to both. Each 4.0 alpha, beta and release candidate starts with this note.
What 4.0 changes. It adds a second file,
weather-radar-card-maplibre.js, next to the card. HACS installs it. A manual install must copy it. It also changes what the re-centre button does when a marker is tracked (see Breaking changes). All other new features are off until you turn them on.How to install a pre-release. In HACS, open the card and turn on Show beta versions. To go back, select 3.13.0 in the same place. Fixed
- Blank frames after a preset switch. After a view change the card requested tiles for every frame at once. Some quick switches used up RainViewer's request budget, and the tiles of the last preset waited up to a minute while the progress bar showed them as loaded. Now at most three frames fetch at a time, in playback order from the shown frame, and the next frame starts when one completes. The progress bar shows a frame as loading while its tiles are outstanding.
- Half the tile requests of a zoom-out wasted. A jump of two or more zoom levels (a preset, re-centre after a zoom-in) first requested a full set of tiles at the old zoom around the new centre, then discarded them 250 ms later. A Leaflet 1.9.4 quirk; the card now skips those tiles.
Earlier
4.0.0-alpha1 added the vector map, view presets and layer toggles. Its notes list the breaking changes. 3.13.0 is the current stable release. Both are included here.
