github jpettitt/weather-radar-card v3.11.0-beta1
3.11.0-beta1

pre-release2 hours ago

Beta pre-release. Two new map_style options (your own tile URL, or HA's own OSM proxy) plus two bug fixes: a WMS request leak and a card-reconnect bug that could leave the map blank after entering/exiting dashboard edit mode. Drop-in upgrade from 3.10.0 — no config changes required.

What's new

  • map_style: Custom — point the card at your own basemap tiles — custom_tile_url takes any {z}/{x}/{y} raster template (self-hosted tile server, caching proxy, keyed provider), with an optional custom_tile_attribution. custom_tile_theme: invert shows light tiles (e.g. OSM) as a dark map via a CSS filter; custom_tile_theme: dark tells the card the tiles are already dark so markers, progress bar and wind flow use the dark palette. Available in the visual editor. Contributed by @jvandenbroek (#273).

    type: custom:weather-radar-card
    map_style: Custom
    custom_tile_url: https://tiles.example.com/{z}/{x}/{y}.png
    custom_tile_attribution: "© Example Tiles"
    custom_tile_theme: invert
  • map_style: MapTiles — proxies OpenStreetMap raster tiles through Home Assistant's own map_tiles integration instead of fetching them directly: no CARTO watermark, no API key, localized labels. Requires Home Assistant 2026.10+; the editor greys out the option on older cores, and YAML falls back to Light if set anyway.

Fixed

  • WMS tile requests (DWD radar) leaked internal retry/callback options into the outbound URL — newer internal fields (maxRetries, retryDelay, maxServerErrorRetries, on5xx, onTileRecovered) weren't in the strip list, so Leaflet appended them to the GetMap query string — for the two callbacks, as their raw function source. No functional effect on tiles served, but it bloated every request and leaked internal code. Contributed by @m42cel (#275).
  • Map could stay blank after Home Assistant detached and reattached the card (entering/exiting dashboard edit mode, sections-grid layout changes) — the reconnect path relied on a Lit update that was being silently dropped, so the card could sit with no map for anywhere from a few seconds to 45+ seconds until an unrelated update happened to arrive. The card now re-initializes directly on reconnect instead.
