This release only works with KOReader official release version 2025.04

Please carefully follow the installation instructions.

Note: This version has a minor visual bug with folder covers in List View mode (sometimes they are shown at the wrong width). It will be fixed in the next update.

New Features

Support for Android devices - Thank you to @leathekd for contributing this fix. The install steps in the wiki are focused on dedicated ereaders like Kobo, but the same basic steps apply. Locate the "koreader" folder on your device's storage and that's where you'll find the plugins folder and place the fonts and icons.

Library mode - Long-press the origami bird in the center of the toolbar. Displays all of your books in a single list, no folders, sorted by author, then series, then title. There's a single setting to move in-progress ("Reading" status) books to the top of the list. Long press the bird to go back. This mode is experimental and you may encounter weirdness with it, but hopefully no crashes.

Cover Grid mode - Received an overhaul that brings it visually in line with Cover List mode. Book sized progress bars (based on Calibre page counts, see the wiki for details) are now used when possible, and if you don't want progress bars then you can opt for a small box with text-based info.

Auto-generated folder covers - By default folders are now represented by a thumbnail collage of 4 random covers from books in that folder. This auto-generated cover takes more time. If you have a lot of folders visible at once or an older ereader it might be too slow, so there is a setting to disable it completely.

Image-based folder covers - If an image file with a certain name (see the wiki for details) is found in a folder, that image is used as the folder's cover. This feature was adapted from the popular user patch (Thank you, @ebanDev ), with the goal of being completely cross-compatible. You can go from the user patch to this plugin without having to redo a single thing, or you can use the user patch on top of this plugin, or you can ditch this plugin entirely and go back to only the user patch.

Notes on folder covers:

  • Images have top priority. If one is found, it is used. No setting is available for this part; if you put the image files on your device, it is expected that you want them used.
  • If the Auto-Generate feature is enabled, and there's no image file, it is used when possible. If the Auto-Generate feature is disabled or is unable to find 4 viable book covers, a fall back generic image is used, the same one that has been used in Cover List.
  • All of the above works in Cover Grid AND Cover List. A big focus during development has been bringing the two primary display modes closer together in style.

Device status icons in footer - Don't care about seeing the name of the folder you're in? Prefer to see the time, WiFi state, battery and frontlight levels? Now you can. This feature was adapted from the popular user patch (Thank you, @sebdelsol ), but includes none of the settings. It's all or nothing.

New Settings

Disable text overlaid on folders in Cover Grid mode - By default, the name of the folder appears in the upper left, and the number of items inside the folder appears in the bottom center. You can disable this, if you prefer. This is the only setting related to folder covers; if you need more control, you can stick with the user patch.

Always show progress bars - Previously in List Mode and now also in Cover Grid mode, progress bars are only shown if the optional page count metadata was available, so they could be drawn using relative sizes. Smaller = shorter book, larger = longer book. If you don't want to go to the effort of setting that up, now you can show maximum size progress bars on all books, in both modes.

Disable included Book Status screen - Don't like the changes we made to the screen KOReader calls "Book Status"? Need the option to add a rating for a book? Just want the old one back? Now you can.

"Lefty Mode" Footer - Would you rather have the page controls on the left and the folder name on the right? Now you can.

Bugs Fixed
Crashes while changing modes, viewing tables of contents, and in file-select mode; issues that blocked scanning book covers/data; problems with changing folders when changing modes; and a few other small things.
