New features:
- Interactive Rebase: Right-click any commit or branch, then select "Rebase". You can rearrange commits, run your rebase plan, follow its progress, and continue/abort it at any time.
Quality of life improvements:
- GraphView: Option to hide commit hashes (Settings → Commit History → Show commit hashes beside the graph) (#132)
- Sidebar: Add "Reset HEAD" to local & remote branch context menus
- Sidebar: Hide "Submodules" section in repos that don't use them
- Single-instance mode. When you run
gitfourchetteon the command line, arguments will be forwarded to the running instance. Pass--newto force a new instance. (#114) - After updating the application, the status bar shows a discreet notification that lets you read the release notes
- Askpass dialogs "Verify Fingerprint" and "Enter Passphrase" are now easier to distinguish at a glance by their layout
- Error messages reporting that Git can't be launched now suggest changing the path to the Git executable
Bug fixes:
- Fix regression in v1.11.0 where Export/Revert Patch and Blame Lines couldn't be executed from a detached diff window
- Fix error messages when displaying files containing U+2029 or a stray CR that's not part of a CRLF line ending
- Fix line number gutter rarely had incorrect width
- Fix outsized pointer over line number gutter in XWayland (#142)
- Fix minor cosmetic issues with built-in themes and icon colors in menus
- Fix deserialization of incomplete pygit2 signatures from settings JSON files
- Fix F2 keyboard shortcut on remote branches in the sidebar
Maintenance & packaging notes:
- The Flatpak distribution now defaults to the host system's Git (if available) instead of the built-in sandboxed Git. This eliminates common issues with the sandbox when your workflow needs Git to call external programs. You can still switch to sandboxed Git in Settings → Git Integration.
- The AppImage distribution now bundles libxcb-cursor for improved X11 compatibility, and QAdwaitaDecorations for better-looking client-side decorations in Wayland (i.e. window shadows on GNOME).
- Continued from work started in v1.5.0, more operations were rewritten to be implemented with "standard" Git instead of libgit2 for improved compatibility (New Branch From Commit, Edit Upstream Branch, Recall Commit, Delete Branch, Rename Branch, Git Identity).
