A third answer for the inbox. Until now a link left the queue as a bookmark or not at all; Keep holds on to it without asking where it belongs, on a Kept tab beside the queue — and the tab brings what a pile of postponed decisions needs: where each link probably belongs, tags it would be given, grouping, filing a whole group at once, and a run that puts one link in front of you at a time. Around it, every write in the inbox, the kept list, health and Config → Bookmarks now touches only the rows it changes, and each one can be undone from its toast.

Inbox

new — Keep, the inbox's third answer. Every queue row has a Keep button, Shift + K keeps the row under the cursor in the list and on the triage card, and the right-click menu offers it too. The link leaves the queue for good, with its note and tags, to a hidden Unsorted page (Page.Hidden, reserved id 999999, GET /api/unsorted). A copy of the row flies to the Kept tab, its count steps up, and a toast names the place with Undo.
new — the inbox has two tabs, To triage and Kept, a real tablist with roving tabindex and Arrow/Home/End. The queue's tab carries the header badge's own count — unread and awake — and the two repaint each other, so neither lags a reload behind. Shift + U and #unsorted open the inbox on Kept.
new — r marks read in the list and in triage alike. Triage's r used to keep; one letter meant two things a tab apart. Keep is Shift + K in both, and the legends, the cheat sheet, the triage hint and the tour say so.
new — the selection bar keeps and tags. Keep and Tags join promote, open, copy, mark read, snooze and delete; bulk promote asks for a page and a category; Select all on the bar ticks what the filter shows. Each bulk action has an undo, and they write in batches (inbox_batch.go) rather than one request per row.
new — Promote carries the tags given in the queue, by hand or from a suggestion chip, into the bookmark form.
new — suggested tags where a link is triaged. The engine behind Config → Bookmarks → Suggestions answers per row in the queue and on Kept: a dashed chip adds the tag, × turns it down in the same list config writes.
new — a drawn tour in nine steps, most of it about Kept, each step with a small scene painted from the theme's variables. A Tour button in the band opens it again; the tip id moved to inboxTutorialV2, so everyone who saw the old seven-step tour gets this one once.
fix — Escape steps back one layer at a time: ticks on Kept, then the queue, then the queue's ticks, then the dashboard. The general key handler cleared a selection and let the same press run on.
fix — Keep undo, and a Keep of a link already filed says where it is filed rather than adding a second copy.

Kept

new — each kept row says what it is: its tags (two, and +n), how long it has waited (nothing under a week), and file on … when most of that site's filed links sit on one page and category — one click files it there. File a kept link where its neighbours are (Behavior → Inbox & Fresh, off by default) lets Keep do that without asking.
new — group by site, tag, suggested tag or age, and sort by last checked among the rest. The sort and grouping are settings, so they follow you across browsers. A group's box or its name ticks the whole group, X takes the group of the row under the cursor, and a right-click on a group heading offers what the selection bar does.
new — the selection bar: Move to… (page and category), tags, suggest tags, open, export, snooze, Back to the inbox, delete, and Fetch icons / Fetch previews for the rows that lack them. Filing, sending back and deleting can be undone; a delete's undo takes its trash entries back with it.
new — Work through (f) puts one kept link in front of you with every answer under it — file where its site lives, move (m), snooze (z), back to the inbox (b), skip (s), delete (d) — and ends on a count of what was dealt with.
new — back and snooze from the row. b sends the row (or the ticked rows) back to the queue, with the same flight in reverse; snooze sends it back asleep on the queue's own presets.
new — a line counts the kept links that stopped answering, with a filter to them, and another counts the ones already filed on a page, with Remove the kept copies.
new — a card in the corner when kept links pile up: ten or more waiting over a month, once. It opens the list; it never files or deletes.
new — a Kept widget lists the most recently kept links on a page (WidgetTypeUnsorted, with a rows field).
fix — filing is add-then-delete, and a delete that failed after the add left the link filed and kept; the filed copy is now taken back off the page. Filing and sending back are no longer paced at the outbound-fetch interval, the Move to… picker asks the server for categories (an empty one was missing, others showed an id), and a background refresh no longer wipes the row a popover is anchored to.
fix — kept bookmarks stay out of the dashboard's pools, the tag cloud, smart collections and the health report. Search reaches them while Search unsorted bookmarks (Behavior → Keyboard & search, on by default) is on; Config → Bookmarks shows them under its Unsorted view; Move to… on a dashboard row offers the Kept list as a destination.

Health

new — rows are found by URL, deletes go to the trash, and deletes and fixes can be undone from the toast. Ticks follow their bookmark rather than their position. A row that changed since the report was read reloads the report instead of acting on stale data.
new — Fetch previews on Missing preview walks the whole collection in batches behind a counting bar with Stop, waits out the rate limit instead of ending on it, and says so in its label.
fix — a tall row menu pinned itself to the top of the viewport when neither side of its row had room; it is clamped toward the row, as the right-click path already was.

Config

new — Config → Bookmarks writes only the rows that change, moves refuse a URL already on the target page and say which ones stayed, the undo takes back only what that change did, and duplicating a page copies its bookmarks (a duplicated category comes without them — a page holds each link once).
new — Fetch icons and Fetch previews for a selection in Config → Bookmarks, counting only the rows that need it, behind the blocking bar with Stop and a rate-limit wait. A sweep's results are written one page at a time.
new — the link-preview refresh under Data & backups → Icons & previews can be stopped; what it fetched is kept.
new — Keep links without filing them moved from Appearance → Header to Behavior → Inbox & Fresh, and now gates Keep in triage too.
fix — the config band's filter and Only changed were written after the panels were bound and never reached the config object.

Logs

new — Record server log is a toggle in the log toolbar, beside Copy and Download, instead of a switch behind ⚙. Every line carries its own server sequence number, and recording with no refresh interval says the view will not update by itself.

Translations

fix — 25 strings the code used had no locale key, so they showed in English in every language: the Keep, bulk-tag and undo toasts in the inbox, the health undo and restore toasts, the Config → Bookmarks move and duplicate messages, the kept list's duplicate line and no tag group, and the Kept widget's name, description, empty and loading text and open action. All six locales.
fix — the cheat sheet's r row had no label (ivMarkRead sat in dashboard.*, not dashboard.cheatsheet.*) and its ivKeep read "Mark as read"; both are in place.
fix — copy that still said r keeps — the triage hint, the inbox explainer, tour steps 4 and 9 and the tour's keycap — says r marks read and Shift+K keeps, in six locales. The server-log help and empty state name the renamed toggle.

docs — Config → Help → Inbox has a new The Kept tab panel, and the inbox, working, triage, settings, tour and Behavior panels describe Keep, the two tabs and the new switches; Help → Tips gains tipEditKeep and tipEditKeptPile. Six locales.
docs — static/data/whats-new/v1.12.0.json and its index entry, leading the What's new window: whats-new-stub.js's DASHBOARD_RELEASE moved to 2026.09-dashboard-release-v1.12.0, so every install sees it once, and NEXTDASH_WHATS_NEW_DATA_VERSION to whats-new-v295. v1.11.1–v1.11.8 lose hideFromModal and are shown under it, the way v1.7.0 released v1.6.1 and v1.6.2; v1.11.4's lead no longer mentions a test. tests/whats-new-hidden-release.spec.js asserts that nothing is held back and that each of them is reachable in the window. static/data/overview-features.json gains two spotlights with since: "v1.12.0" — keeping a link, and filing it where its site lives — with their keys in six locales. go generate refreshed asset_hashes_gen.go.
