AerioTV 0.4.2 (Android phone, Android TV)
Playback stability on lower-power devices
Fixes a field report (Chromecast with Google TV): scrolling the EPG while a channel played could freeze the picture and drop the Dispatcharr connection entirely.
- The live stall watchdog no longer reloads a stream that is still receiving data. Heavy UI work on a weak device could starve playback long enough to look like a dead stream; the watchdog then reloaded a healthy connection every few seconds until the player wedged and gave up.
- Watchdog retries now back off (5s, 10s, 20s) instead of hammering, and time the device spends hung on UI work is not counted against the stream.
- Genuinely dead streams (a wedged proxy read, a source that stops sending bytes) are still detected and reloaded exactly as before.
Match content frame rate (Android TV / Google TV)
Fixes the field report that AerioTV never switched the display to match the stream while TiviMate, Plex, and Emby did.
- The player now requests a real refresh-rate switch when the stream's frame rate differs from the display (for example 50fps European channels on a 60Hz output). Your device's system setting stays in charge:
- Match content frame rate: Always - the display does a full mode switch (the short black resync other players do), then plays 50fps content at 50Hz with no pulldown judder.
- Seamless-only (the default on most devices) - behavior is unchanged: the display switches only when it can do so without a resync.
- Never - no switching, as before.
- Previously the app only ever asked for seamless switches, so devices set to "Always" never got the full switch and 50fps streams stayed at 60Hz.
- Channel changes re-evaluate the frame rate, and the display returns to its normal mode when you leave playback.
