New
- We have a calendar! Click days in the calendar to create or open daily notes for a day. Daily notes with images will show feature images in the calendar!
- New setting: Notes > Custom property to show custom property or word count. You can now show properties or word count in file list! You can show multiple properties, and you can even color each property individually using other properties! You can also override what property to display (none, word count, or specific property) per folder or tag.
- New setting: Notes > Parent folder > Show parent folder icon. Enable to show parent folder icons in the list pane. New default is disabled.
- New setting: Notes > Feature image > Exclude notes with properties. You can now exclude notes with certain frontmatter properties from showing feature images.
- New setting: General > Filtering > Hide files with tags (vault profile). You can now hide files with certain tags in the list pane. This makes it super easy to hide certain files by just dragging them to a tag.
- New setting: Folders & tags > Open folder notes in new tab. Enable to always open folder notes in a new tab instead of the current tab.
- New setting: Advanced > Reset all settings. Use this to reset all plugin settings to default values.
- Three new theme variables: --nn-theme-foreground, --nn-theme-foreground-muted and --nn-theme-foreground-faded so you easily can adjust the look and feel of all text and images.
- Six new style and theme settings for custom property tag pills - text, background, selected x 2, selected inactive x 2.
- Two new menu commands: Navigate to folder and Navigate to tag. Access them from the root folder or root tag folder context menu.
Improved
- Lots of UI polish in this release. Things look cleaner and should be easier on the eyes, especially in dark mode. Remember that you can modify all colors using the Style settings plugin.
- Internal: Improved cache rebuild performance by slowing down tag tree updates during the process.
- Internal: Major rewrite of the metadata processing chain. It is now a sequential pipeline instead of multiple providers working in parallel. It reads markdown content at most once per file and writes just one merged database update per file. This should make the cache system handle vaults of virtually any size.
- You can now hide the dual-pane button in the top-left corner using Settings > General > Toolbar buttons.
Changed
- Behavior change: In single-pane mode, clicking on a file in shortcuts, recent notes, in calendar or changing notes in the editor (with auto reveal enabled) will no longer switch over to list pane automatically. The old behavior was implemented before we had shortcuts and recent notes, and it was time to change it.
- Moved several UX settings to local storage so they are not synced between devices. These are: pane transition duration, toolbar button visibility, navigation indentation, navigation item height, scale navigation text with item height, compact list item height, scale compact list text with item height.
- Folder notes no longer default to showing text in bold and underline, instead their icon is now a file icon and they show underline on hover. This can be changed in Style settings.
- Right-clicking the name of a folder with folder note now shows the file menu for the folder note. To access the folder - right click outside the name.
- Excluded files, folders and properties in General > Filtering are now case-insensitive.
- Removed the two style setting variables nn-navigation-pane-transparent and nn-list-pane-transparent since they did not look good with the new overlay transparency. I will investigate best way forward for those who want full window transparency.
- Hide files by name, Hide folders by name, Hide note with properties are now case-insensitive.
