Careful of fake copies. The only download for this project is this releases page. Fake websites and lookalike GitHub repositories exist (#88, #115); this project has no executable installer. The standalone CAREFUL_FAKE_MALICIOUS_FEEDER.txt asset explains how to check what you downloaded. SHA-256 of DLSS5-Feeder-1.18.0-beta.1.zip: DF5E5DD5D15A88DE73885AD164FE6BF9E6CAFC728DB1133B9BE3FC8A25F5BBCB. The genuine zips are scanned on VirusTotal, for instance the 1.16.0-beta.2 zip; look this release's hash up there yourself.

There is a one-command installer. Download Install-DLSS5Feeder.ps1, put it beside the game's executable, and run powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\Install-DLSS5Feeder.ps1. The standalone AUTOMATIC_INSTALLATION_AVAILABLE.txt asset explains every option.

Does not work with your game? I can't test every game reported in the issues: I don't own most of them, and I don't have the time to try them all. Read this README section. It gives a prompt for an AI coding agent that reads your logs against the source and opens a pull request if it finds a legitimate fix. This release's two main features came from exactly that (KartnDev, #136 and #139).

1.18.0-beta.1 adds the 64-bit helper mode, puts NGX's own reason for a failure in the logs, and fixes the 32-bit add-on disappearing in games that load Direct3D 9 twice under DXVK. Every binary embeds commit a9d071c; line 1 of dlss5-feed.log must say 1.18.0-beta.1 commit a9d071c.

The neural model runs on RTX 50 only. NVIDIA's signed nvngx_dlssnr.dll 310.8.0, and the modified 310.8.Lecram build the installer downloads, create the neural feature on RTX 50-series GPUs only. On an RTX 20/30/40 DLSS still runs but the neural pass does not: ReShade.log says feature 18 create failed with 0xbad00001 and you only see DLSS's anti-aliasing (#131). Get the modified nvngx_dlssnr.dll made for your GPU from the RenoDX Discord. Verify-DLSS5Feeder.ps1 says so at the end.

32-bit games: install dlss5-feed.addon32 and host64\dlss5-feed-host64.exe from this zip. The IPC protocol is still v11, as in 1.17.0.

What changed since 1.17.0

  • 64-bit helper mode (#138, #139, by KartnDev). New file dlss5-feed-helper.addon64: a 64-bit game hands its frames to host64\dlss5-feed-host64.exe and NGX runs there, exactly as for a 32-bit game. It exists for 64-bit games whose own process cannot run NGX. Bloodborne on shadPS4 is the known case: NVAPI will not create the CUDA module DLSS needs inside the emulator, while host64 on the same PC works. It supports Direct3D 10/11, OpenGL and Vulkan (not Direct3D 12) and runs DLAA at native size only. That makes it the route for a 64-bit Direct3D 10 game such as Crysis (#134), untested so far. Every other 64-bit game should keep dlss5-feed.addon64. If both files are next to the game, dlss5-feed.addon64 stands down and says so. Setup: README, 64-bit helper mode.
  • NGX's own reason in the logs (#136, #137, by KartnDev). The capability line is now preceded by SuperSampling.FeatureInitResult. When DLSS is unavailable in the game's process with 0xBAD00002 (PlatformError), the stop message says it is the process, not the GPU or driver, and points to the helper mode. After an in-process failure the add-on runs NGX's init once more with NGX's own log going into dlss5-feed.log, between two ===== NGX's own log lines, then shuts it down. The add-on's normal session never hands NGX a logging callback, since NGX could otherwise call into an unloaded add-on. host64 writes NGX's log into dlss5-feed-host.log on every run. NGX's config dumps and per-preset lines are left out unless DLSS5_FEED_NGX_VERBOSE=1 is set.
  • #135: 32-bit Vulkan (DXVK) games that load d3d9.dll twice. Fallout: New Vegas through Mod Organizer 2 does this: vulkan-1.dll and ReShade's layer unload and come back, and ReShade.log said "No add-on was registered". The add-on now takes its hooks off the old vulkan-1.dll before it goes and releases itself, and the new ReShade loads it again. dlss5-feed.log shows "releasing the add-on ReShade left loaded" followed by a second "attached".
  • Installer: for a 64-bit game it asks whether to use the helper mode. The default and the answer on Enter is No. -HelperMode Yes|No answers in advance.

Verified, and not

All four binaries build with no warnings. host64 --test: 300/300 evaluates on driver 617.14 (RTX 5090), FeatureInitResult: Success. #135: a loader test with a fake ReShade and a fake vulkan-1.dll that unload and come back fails 5 of 13 checks with 1.17.0 and passes all 13 with this build, 32-bit and the 64-bit helper. The helper mode ran in Bloodborne/shadPS4 on KartnDev's RTX 5080. Not run in a game: the #135 fix, the helper mode's D3D10/D3D11/OpenGL paths, the in-process "NGX's own log" pass (it only runs after an in-process failure), and the installer's helper-mode branch.
