rEFInd_GUI 3.5.5
Added
- Windows on Arm. The Windows side is now architecture-aware, matching what 3.5.3 did for Linux.
rEFInd_GUI-<version>-arm64-setup.exe: a native ARM64 build of the GUI and its helper, compiled in MSYS2's CLANGARM64 environment on GitHub'swindows-11-armrunner and packaged by the same Inno Setup script (ISCC /DArch=arm64). The x86-64 installer staysx64compatible, so it still runs emulated on ARM64 as a fallback.- Install rEFInd (
windows/install_rEFInd.ps1) derives the EFI architecture from the OS (x64oraa64) and uses it for the loader (refind_aa64.efi), thedrivers_aa64/tools_aa64folders, the firmware boot entry, and the per-architecture UEFI driver assets:UsbXbox360Dxe_aa64.efi(v1.8.1+) on every ARM64 machine andTouchI2cDxe_aa64.efi(v1.4.2+) on the ASUS ProArt P16 (H7607BA). Before this an ARM64 Windows machine received an x64 rEFInd its firmware cannot run. - Uninstall recognises either architecture's loader when deleting rEFInd's boot entries.
- PowerShell parse check in CI. The Windows workflow now parses every
windows/*.ps1with the PowerShell parser before building, since CI never executes them.
Changed
windows/copydeps.shresolves the runtime DLL closure by reading import tables with objdump instead ofldd, which cannot load ARM64 images from MSYS2's emulated shell. The x86-64 payload is unchanged (same DLL set; the installer is within a few KB of 3.5.4).- The Task Scheduler COM GUIDs are defined in-tree (
GUI/src/wintaskguids.cpp) instead of linking MinGW's x86-onlylibtaskschd.a.
Notes for ARM64
- The ARM64 installer and the ARM64 code paths built and packaged cleanly, but no one has yet run them on a Windows on Arm machine; the Linux-side ARM64 boot test from 3.5.3 is also still pending. Please report what you see.
- Linux packages are unchanged in this release apart from the version.
Upgrading
Re-run the installer for your platform, or just update the deb, rpm or Arch package:
