rEFInd_GUI 3.5.3
Added
- ARM64 (aarch64) support (#123). rEFInd_GUI now works on ARM64 Linux installs, the first target being a dual-boot menu on the ASUS ProArt P16 H7607BA (NVIDIA N1X) running Arch Linux ARM.
- Detection uses the running CPU's EFI names:
refind_aa64.efi,shimaa64.efi,systemd-bootaa64.efi,BOOTAA64.CSV,drivers_aa64,tools_aa64. Before this, an ARM64 ESP never showed the Linux port's loader and the installers copied and registered an_x64loader that does not exist in the aa64 build. On x86-64 every candidate list is byte-identical to 3.5.2, so nothing changes on existing installs. - Installers (
refind_install_Sourceforge.sh,refind_install_package_mgr.sh) derive the architecture fromuname -mfor the loader, the drivers and tools directories, theefibootmgrentry and its verification. Unknown machine types fail cleanly. - Packaging:
PKGBUILDdeclaresaarch64,debian/controldeclaresarm64, andinstall-rEFInd-GUI.shpicks the release asset for the running CPU.
- Detection uses the running CPU's EFI names:
- aarch64 release packages. Every release now ships
rEFInd_GUI-<ver>-1-aarch64.pkg.tar.zst,refind-gui_<ver>_arm64.debandrEFInd_GUI-<ver>-1.fc44.aarch64.rpm, built on GitHub'subuntu-24.04-armrunners with the same recipes as the x86-64 packages (the Arch package is built in an Arch Linux ARM container, pinned by digest). The source RPM keeps coming from the x86-64 job. - TouchI2cDxe on the ASUS ProArt P16. The touchscreen UEFI driver is now installed from TouchI2cDxe v1.4.2's per-architecture builds, so the P16 (DMI board
H7607BA, Ilitek panel on the NVIDIA N1X) joins the Xbox Ally / Ally X, Steam Deck, Zenbook Pro 14 Duo and GPD WIN 5 as a device whose touchscreen works in the rEFInd menu. The driver lands indrivers_<arch>; the Xbox 360 controller driver stays x86-64 only. - Arch Linux ARM: the Package Mgr install source is hidden there, because ALARM ships no
refindpackage. Use the Sourceforge source, which carriesrefind_aa64.efi.
Fixed
tst_osdetect's uki-direct fixture no longer depends on the build host's architecture (it failed on an ARM64 build host).
Notes for ARM64
- The ARM64 code paths were built and unit-tested on x86-64 and on the arm64 runners; a boot of
refind_aa64.efion real N1X hardware is still pending. Please report what you see. - The touchscreen driver on the P16 is TouchI2cDxe's first ARM64 build and is marked untested on hardware in its own release.
- Windows on Arm builds of the GUI are out of scope for now;
setup.exeis x86-64.
Upgrading
Re-run the installer for your platform, or just update the deb, rpm or Arch package:
curl -L https://github.com/jlobue10/rEFInd_GUI/raw/main/install-rEFInd-GUI.sh | bash
The installer now picks the aarch64 package on ARM64 by itself. The sudoers rule and the kernel-install hook are unchanged.
The Windows installer (setup.exe) is not code-signed. Verify it against the .sha256 file next to it.
