Added

• Encode jobs now prevent automatic system sleep and hibernation while work is in progress without keeping the display awake. Use --allow-sleep or set allow_sleep = true to opt out.

Fixed

• Jobs failing with ERROR: Cannot open file when a path exceeded the Windows 260 character limit. DEE is not long-path aware, so it reported files that were sitting right there as missing. Three changes address this:
  • DEE now encodes into the temp directory and never sees the destination at all (see Changed).
  • Temp artifacts no longer inherit the full output name (see Changed).
  • Any path that is still over the limit is handed to DEE as an extended-length (\\?\) path.
• ZeroDivisionError: float division by zero when DEE finished encoding inside a single progress interval, which made short files fail intermittently on a loaded machine.
• Progress bars reporting 100% for DEE measure/encode after a job had already failed. Completion is now gated on DEE's exit code.
• Temp directory length check only measured the directory itself, so it never caught a path that was too long once a job file was added to it. It now budgets for the job file, names the offending directory, and runs before any directories are created.
• --config was accepted and documented but never actually used. The config manager always auto-discovered deezy-conf.toml, so deezy --config my-config.toml encode ... silently encoded with a different config than the one asked for. It is now honored throughout, including for preset --name lookups, which resolve before argparse runs.
• deezy --version reported 1.3.13 on a 1.3.14 build. The two are now covered by a test so they cannot drift apart again.
• A failed truehdd decode raised with an empty message unless --log-level debug was set, because the decoder's own error output was only collected in debug mode. It is now always collected, so the reason is reported on the first run.
• A failed FFMPEG step reported only FFMPEG error (exit code N). The tail of FFMPEG's output is now included in the error.
• FFMPEG progress ticks were being collected into the buffer used to report a truehdd extract failure. The buffer grew for the length of the decode and buried the real error under thousands of percentage strings.
• Output reader threads were joined with a 0.1 second timeout, racing the error text they were collecting, so a failure could be reported with truncated or missing output.
• FFMPEG was left running when truehdd could not be started (missing binary, bad --truehdd path), orphaning a process that held the input file open.
• An invalid --ffmpeg, --dee, or --truehdd path (or the matching [dependencies] config entry) was accepted and only failed several steps into an encode as an opaque OS error. Paths are now checked before any work starts, and a bare command name is resolved on PATH.
• A mistyped input path printed a Python traceback instead of the error message.
• Docs: the --config example in troubleshooting placed the flag after the subcommand, where argparse rejects it, and repeated encode ddp.

Changed

• DEE now encodes into the job temp directory and DeeZy moves the finished file to its destination.
  • Every path DEE is given is one DeeZy controls the length of, so a long output directory no longer reaches it.
  • A failed encode no longer leaves a truncated file at the destination.
  • The move is a rename when the temp directory and the output share a volume, and a copy across volumes.
• Temp artifact filenames (.wav, .json, _metadata.json) are now built from a short deterministic hash of the output instead of its full name, keeping them a fixed length regardless of how long the output is.
  • Names remain stable across runs, but differ from previous versions, so --reuse-temp-files will not reuse temp folders created before this release.
• A --config path that is missing or will not parse is now a hard error instead of a silent fall back to auto-discovery and built-in defaults, so a typo can no longer quietly change encode settings. An auto-discovered config that fails to parse still warns and falls back.
• Loading a config now replaces the previously loaded one instead of merging into it.
• FFMPEG output is now read to completion rather than stopping at the first 100% progress line, which could leave the process blocked on a full pipe buffer at debug verbosity.
• Updated dependencies.
  • Min python version is now 3.10 due to updated guessit.
  • Dropped the stale 3.9 classifier from package metadata to match.
