🌟 Community Contributor Spotlight: @TomLucidor
Tom is exactly the kind of user who makes open source better.
- 173 issues/discussions filed across 148 repositories on GitHub
- Zero code commits - but his feedback drives real improvements
- On December 12, he opened Discussion #148 asking a simple question: "Which plugins require paid APIs vs free/self-hosted?"
- That question sparked the entire "Make All Plugins Free" initiative (v4.1.0)
- His follow-up: "If there are rate limits and registration requirements like Alpha Vantage, please note them. Ideally agents with skills would learn how to be resourceful with a single IP."
- This feedback is now driving Epic claude-code-plugins-1k2: comprehensive rate limit documentation across 12 plugins
Tom's Pattern: He doesn't write code, but he keeps projects honest. He asks the questions users are afraid to ask. He catches the gap between marketing ("free!") and reality ("25 requests/day").
Thank you, Tom. Your feedback made this marketplace significantly better. We're lucky to have contributors like you who keep it real.
🎉 Highlights
Rate Limits & Transparency Initiative - Thanks to community feedback from @TomLucidor, we're documenting the REAL constraints of "free" services. Because "free" should mean informed, not surprised.
📚 Documentation (Tom's Request)
- ollama-local-ai: Added 220-line "Rate Limits & Resource Constraints" section
- Hardware-based limits (RAM/GPU requirements per model)
- Memory constraints table (7B-70B models, concurrent agents)
- Disk space requirements (5GB-45GB per model)
- Inference speed limits by hardware tier
- Multi-agent strategies for single machine (10 agents on 32GB)
- Code examples: shared model pools, request batching, queue management
- Upgrade paths when hardware becomes the bottleneck
🔧 Validator Improvements
- Fixed critical bug:
((VAR++))withset -ewas causing script to exit early- Replaced with
VAR=$((VAR + 1))throughout - Validator now completes all 6 stages successfully
- Replaced with
- Added strict schema validation: Detects forbidden fields in plugin.json
- Only allows: name, version, description, author, repository, homepage, license, keywords
- Prevents Issue #179 from recurring (invalid manifest errors)
- Optimized frontmatter validation: Checks for script once, not per-file
- Added existence check: Gracefully handles missing check-frontmatter.py
🐛 Bug Fixes
- 22 plugins fixed (PRs #180, #181): Removed invalid plugin.json fields
- Script permissions fixed: nmap_scan_template.sh, install-jeremy-plugins.sh now executable
- Issue #179 resolved: User @genesiscz can now install plugins without "Unrecognized key" errors
