v0.23.1 - Reconnect, macOS Login and Battery Level Fixes

one hour ago

What's New

Four fixes and two v1r doc updates, all from new contributor @wit3.

Install / upgrade

Fixes

  • #455 — Tesla login from macOS no longer fails with a 403. The TLS 1.2 cap, which Windows has had since v0.16.1, now applies on macOS too (#350).
  • #457 — when the connection fails, the final error names why the configured mode failed (e.g. a missing RSA key) instead of a later cloud or FleetAPI error (#373).
  • #458 — a reconnect that fails in every mode keeps the client it had, with its own mode and TEDAPI state, so a local-only install no longer raises cloud errors during a gateway outage (#454).
  • #460 — level(scale=True) and the proxy's /api/system_status/soe stop at 0% under the 5% reserve instead of going negative.

Docs

  • #456 — the correct Powerwall 3 switch for the v1r physical proof (the small black rocker, not the red DC isolator knob).
  • #459 — v1r works over the Powerwall 3's Wi-Fi client address (part of #387).

Also: release #461 and proxy pin #462 (t111).

Hardware

Release tested on 2x Powerwall 3 + Backup Gateway 2 (no expansion packs); proxy t111 validated on a Powerwall 3 (regression 76/76).

Contributors

Thanks to the community members who made this release possible:

  • @wit3 (Salvatore Scalzi) — a new contributor who wrote all six fix and docs PRs (#455–#460) in his first two days. Each came from something he hit on his own Powerwall 3 + Backup Gateway 2 and was backed by careful evidence: the TLS A/B token test, the #454 lockup trace and the overnight 3.9% reading. A huge welcome!
  • @AndrewTapp — opened #350, where the Windows TLS login 403 was tracked down; #455 extends that fix to macOS.
  • @Nexarian — reported the swallowed connection error that became #457 (issue #373).
  • @llamakarma — reported the TEDAPI lockup (#454), whose trace led to #458.
  • @jasonacox-sam — reviews of every PR and the hardware test of this release.
  • @jasonacox — the reconnect state fix in #458, the float floor in #460, and the release (#461, #462).
