Sorting is now locale-aware: titles and other text fields order the way a person would expect, so note 2 comes before Note 10, accented letters sit next to their plain forms, and case no longer splits a list. The language follows workspace.locale in .iwe/config.toml and falls back to the system locale. When you need the old byte order or a specific language, --sort field:asc:binary or a locale tag such as sv-SE picks the collation per sort key, in both the CLI and query documents.

iwe

Added

  • --sort field:DIR:COLLATION and sort: { field: { order, collation } } in query documents, with binary for codepoint order or a locale tag such as sv-SE

Changed

  • find --sort and query sort on text fields use locale-aware collation: case and accents no longer split results, Note 2 sorts before Note 10 and emoji are ignored except to break ties (previously byte order)
  • The collation language comes from workspace.locale in .iwe/config.toml, falling back to the system locale and then English

Fixed

  • workspace.locale and markdown.locale values with a @ modifier such as de_DE@euro now format dates in that language (previously they fell back to POSIX)

iwes

Changed

  • The sort code action and completion ordering use locale-aware collation: case and accents no longer split a list, Note 2 sorts before Note 10 and emoji are ignored except to break ties
  • The collation language comes from workspace.locale in .iwe/config.toml, falling back to the system locale and then English

Fixed

  • workspace.locale and markdown.locale values with a @ modifier such as de_DE@euro now format dates in that language (previously they fell back to POSIX)

iwec

Added

  • iwe_query accepts sort: { field: { order, collation } } with binary for codepoint order or a locale tag such as sv-SE

Changed

  • iwe_find and iwe_query sort on text fields use locale-aware collation: case and accents no longer split results, Note 2 sorts before Note 10 and emoji are ignored except to break ties (previously byte order)
  • The collation language comes from workspace.locale in .iwe/config.toml, falling back to the system locale and then English
Library crates (liwe, diwe)

liwe

Added

  • collation::TitleCollator for locale-aware text ordering (case and accents break ties only, numbers compare by value, emoji are ignored); TitleCollator::binary() keeps codepoint order
  • Graph::collator and Graph::with_collator; the default is binary
  • locale::strip_locale_encoding
  • Collation and Sort::collation: a sort key may set binary or a locale tag to choose how its strings compare; TitleCollator::for_collation builds the matching collator

Changed

  • sort_in_place takes a &TitleCollator; Tree::sort_children and Tree::is_sorted take a comparator closure

Fixed

  • get_locale accepts locale strings with a @ modifier such as de_DE@euro

diwe

Changed

  • DocumentFinder sorts text fields with the graph's TitleCollator (codepoint order unless the graph was given a localized collator)
