VW Group Connect v4.11.1

Home Assistant integration for Audi · VW · Škoda · SEAT · CUPRA · Porsche · VW US/CA.

What's new in this release / Was ist neu in diesem Release

Behoben / Fixed

  • The "Volkswagen.de channel needs re-login" Fix button now actually logs you in (#1717, thanks @fschulte2812).
It was shipped broken in 4.11.0: pressing Fix closed the dialog, made the notice disappear and did nothing else —
no login appeared and the channel stayed down. @fschulte2812 found it and read the code to work out why. The repair
was handing the job to a settings screen that Home Assistant never shows when something other than you opens it,
and then marking itself done regardless. The login now happens inside the notice itself: e-mail and password, then
the one-time code if Volkswagen asks for it, and the notice only clears once you are actually signed in again.

Geändert / Changed

  • The Volkswagen.de Data Act login stops one page earlier, and is a little quicker for it
    (#1740, thanks @VWGroupDatahub).
Signing in used to end with a request for a portal content page
that the integration reads nothing from — the page before it is the one that hands out the
session. That last request is gone. You will not see a difference beyond a slightly faster
login; it matters because the portal's own team told us the hop is about to change, and they
sent the fix before it did. Volkswagen's consent, legal-terms and optional marketing-consent
pages are handled exactly as before.
  • Internal, no user-visible change: following that chain by hand means the integration now
applies the rules a browser used to apply for it. The ones worth naming: a 303 does not
re-send your password to the next address, a redirect that leaves the host drops any
credential header instead of carrying it along, a redirect off https is not followed at
all, and a chain that never ends gives up after ten hops instead of spinning.
  • A Vehicle Data Scout report now says which version of the integration produced it
    (#1736, #1738).
It always had room for that line and never filled it, so every report
that reached me started with me asking you which version you were on — three times in the
past week. In one of those the field had been mapped thirty-seven minutes before the report
was filed, which nobody could tell from the report itself. The same line is now on the error
reporter's output. Nothing about what is collected changes: same fields, same masking, no
    raw API response.
  • The trip-computer distance since the last fill-up is a normal sensor now, visible without
hunting for it (#1655, thanks @fschulte2812).
It arrived as a hidden diagnostic entity
while the two memories next to it — total distance and last journey — were ordinary sensors,
which is why @fschulte2812 went looking and could not find it. That caution was for a value
nobody had seen on a real car yet; several cars have reported it since. If you enabled it by
    hand, nothing changes for you.

Docs

  • Internal note only, no user-visible change: the device-grant source file still claimed Audi's app
client returned 200 from Volkswagen's device-code endpoint. That stopped being true when VW walled
the Audi app login (#1364), and a stale comment saying a dead login works is how someone later sends
a user down it. Corrected, together with why Audi deliberately stays in the brand list anyway: it is
what lets an Audi user reach the honest "this login was switched off" message instead of finding the
brand quietly missing from the picker.
  • Internal note only, no user-visible change: the rule that recognises a manufacturer-retired app
login (#1364, #1337) was written inline inside the browser-login error handler, which meant the
test covering it had copied the rule into its own body and was asserting on the copy — it could
not have failed if the real rule changed. The rule now lives in one place that the test actually
calls, with the first negative cases it has ever had, so a timeout or a 503 can no longer be
mistaken for a brand's login being permanently gone.
