SLOOP 2.8.1 is a small, comfortable polish of 2.8's note editor, plus one fix on the PUNCH page. Everything else is exactly 2.8.
Better
- The per-step sheet no longer hides the sequencer. Holding OCT+ on a step opens the sheet (SLIDE / NUDGE / FILL / MOVE / COPY / DELETE, and RATCHET on the drums) — and it now appears as a strip along the bottom of the screen instead of a box over the pattern. The piano roll and the drum grid stay fully visible while you edit, so you can see exactly where a note moves. Thanks to the people who pointed out that the old box covered the notes on the right.
- A quick MOVE. The sheet now reopens on the row you last used: once you've nudged or moved one step, every OCT+ hold comes straight back to it — no more scrolling to MOVE each time.
Fixed
- On the PUNCH page, SELECT is the fade, and only the fade. Hold FX and turn SELECT to set how fast the punch-in effects fade in and out. Until now, turning it could also move the tempo at the same time, and letting go of FX while the knob was still turning sent the last clicks to the tempo too. Now the tempo stays exactly where you left it while the PUNCH page is open, and for a quarter of a second after you let go of FX. Thanks to the players who reported it.
Install
Install from Chrome or Edge: https://isod89.github.io/sloop-fm1/ (make a backup with the web editor first). Your projects, presets, samples and settings stay. Coming from 2.8: nothing else changes, and a project saved in 2.8.1 opens in 2.8 as well.
Thank you to everyone who tried the 2.8 note editor and told us how it felt in use — this is your feedback.
