v1.0.11 — a title page that stays put, no stranger's data, collections without duplicates

Three bugs reported on v1.0.10, all with a cause found in the code.

Fixed

  • #16 — the title page flickers and opens a different title. The detail screen kept a raw index into the catalog and re-read it every frame, while the catalog is republished by replacing the whole block. Any republish with that screen open made the index point at whoever now occupied the slot. All three parts of the report follow from that: the flicker is the block swap, the different title is the new occupant, and "it first opens something from Continue Watching" happens because those items sit in the first positions of the catalog — a title opened from there has index 0..7, exactly the range a republish rewrites first. "After a few minutes idle" is the periodic sync, which runs every five. The player never suffered from this because sync is suppressed while it is open; that screen was thought about and this one was not. The open title is now tracked by its IMDb id, with a copy kept so it can be re-inserted if it is missing from the new catalog.

  • #19 — another profile's data before yours loads. Two causes, both the same mistake: the packager's own data shown as if it were yours — the same class as the add-on credentials that came out of the package in v1.0.7.

    • The home's fallback rows labelled the first positions of the packaged demo catalog as "Continue Watching". Those are the forty demo titles belonging to whoever built the package. That row is gone; "Popular" and "Trending" stay, because a showcase does not claim to be yours.
    • The packaged catalog carried, in one of its columns, how much the packager had watched of each title — which became a progress bar on films you never opened. Progress and remaining minutes are no longer read from there. Real progress comes from this device, your account and Trakt. Season and episode stay: those describe the title, not anyone's viewing.
  • #18 — Xperience collections split into multiple home rows. The add-on declares hundreds of catalogs and your account's collections group those same catalogs into folders, so the home was building both: the folder, and the catalogs inside it loose. With a 16-row ceiling the duplicates ate the slots and pushed out collections that had not been added yet. A catalog that already appears inside a visible folder is now skipped. Visible matters: a folder whose group is switched off must not swallow its contents too, otherwise turning a collection off would make its titles vanish instead of returning as their own rows.

Not fixed, and why

  • #15 — the trailer does not play. It is not a bug, it is not implemented. The app fetches the trailer's video id and never uses it: the detail screen draws the thumbnail and the name and nothing is wired to playback, which is why pressing OK does nothing and nothing looks focused. Playing it means deep-linking to the TV's own YouTube app, and that call is different on each platform. It is real work and I will not ship it without being able to watch it launch on a TV.

  • #17 — Better Posters URLs do not load. Worth saying that the app does use the poster URL your add-on returns — it does not override it — so the setting is being honoured and the image itself is failing. v1.0.10 added the file size and the first four bytes to the decode-failure log line, which separates "zero bytes" from "truncated" from "an error page served with status 200". A photo of the log (red button) with a [tex] decode falhou line settles it.

Installing

LG webOS 4.x — space.nuvio.native.legacy_1.0.11_arm.ipk. Samsung Tizen 5.5+ — NuvioTV-1.0.11-tizen.wgt, unsigned; sign it with your own TV's DUID (steps in the v1.0.7 notes).

Verification

All three toolchains compile clean. Nothing here was run on a TV: these are three reasoned fixes with the mechanism written out in the commit, not observed repairs. #16 in particular is worth watching for — leave the title page idle for five minutes and it should stay put.
