We are pleased to announce the release of INCEpTION 0.14.1.

INCEpTION is an extensible web-based collaborative environment
for text annotation. It integrates machine-learning-based annotation
support, knowledge base management and corpus building into
a single comprehensive platform.

This is a bugfix and minor feature release.

Important upgrade note

If you are running INCEpTION behind a reverse proxy and have so far had a line like server.contextPath=/XXX in your settings.properties file, please replace it with server.servlet.context-path=/XXX.

Important changes since INCEpTION 0.14.0

  • Fixed possible data-corruption issue
  • Fixed problem that wrong entity may be linked when multiple entities have the same label

  • Added a cache for faster knowledge based access on read-only knowledge bases
  • Added ability to filter knowledge base items by their description during entity linking

  • Improved ranking of linking candidates during entity linking

  • Fixed long-running export of curated-documents only eventually may time out
  • Fixed exporting two projects concurrently via the UI
  • Fixed "AUTO" always being interpreted as TSV3 when exporting curated documents only
  • Fixed bulk-dismiss button for warning and error messages not appearing
  • Fixed error when trying to reset a document in certain situations
  • Fixed duplication of predicate markers in CoNLL 2012 format
  • Fixed layout issues of the open document dialog
  • Fixed WebAnno TSV 3 exporter not working with DKPro Core elevated types
  • Fixed error message about unmergeable annotations not being shown
  • Fixed keyboard shortcuts on text features not disabling auto-focus behavior
  • Fixed resource leak when communicating with external recommender
  • Fixed several cases where annotation suggestions could disappear when a recommender fails
  • Fixed error when trying to change the type of a recommender
  • Fixed issue that sentences may be skipped when paging in documents
  • Fixed exporting annotations when viewing annotations of another user as manager
  • Fixed issue that search in sidebar looks in own annotations when viewing other users annotations as a manager
  • Fixed concurrent access warning when viewing annotations of another user as manager while that user is annotating

License and System requirements

INCEpTION is provided as open source software under the Apache License version 2.

Running INCEpTION requires Java version 8 or higher.

By default, INCEpTION uses an embedded database which is sufficient for testing. However, the use of a MySQL database is recommended.

INCEpTION works best with Chrome and Safari.
