Mac Sai v1.25.3

Download (fastest)

Download MacSai-1.25.3.dmg below, open it, and drag Mac Sai to your Applications folder. Updating? Quit Mac Sai first and replace the old copy.

Homebrew

brew install --cask mac-sai # new install
brew upgrade --cask mac-sai # already installed with Homebrew

Homebrew picks up new releases automatically, usually within a day or two. Until then it still serves the previous version, so if brew doesn't offer 1.25.3 yet, use the DMG above. If you installed from the DMG, keep updating with the DMG: brew install refuses to replace an app it didn't install.

Requirements

  • macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
  • Grant Full Disk Access in System Settings for complete scan results

Safety

All deletions go to Trash by default. Protected system paths are blocklisted. Every operation is logged.

What's new

Five new modules, all voted for in round 2 (#55):

  • Unused Apps: finds apps you haven't opened in 3, 6, or 12 months, using Spotlight's last-used date, and hands any of them to the Uninstaller in one click. Running apps are never listed (#230, fixes #224)
  • Clean History: one-click Restore for your recent cleans. Puts a whole clean back from the Trash, never overwrites anything, and keeps the history only on your Mac in a file readable by your account alone (#233, fixes #223)
  • Project Junk: finds regenerable build folders (node_modules, .next, Rust and Maven target, Gradle build, Python virtualenvs, and dist/Pods when git ignores them) and sends them to the Trash (#231, fixes #221)
  • Disk Hogs: shows what Docker and Xcode simulators take up. Prunes stopped containers, dangling images, and dangling build cache behind a confirmation, and removes unavailable simulators and old runtimes. Docker volumes and the newest runtime per platform are never touched (#232, fixes #222)
  • Browser Extensions: one list of the extensions in Safari, Chrome, Brave, Edge, Arc, and Firefox. Extensions you installed can go to the Trash while the browser is closed; policy-installed ones are left alone (#234, fixes #225)

Fixes

  • A failed menu-bar widget launch no longer shows a "The file can't be found." alert; the error is reported inside the app instead (#236)
  • Traditional Chinese headers in Smart Scan, System Junk, and Duplicates show a real line break instead of a literal "\n" (#238)
  • README in all six languages now covers the new modules (#237)

Thanks to @Borisserz for building all five modules.
