ibisOffice 0.8.3

on GitHub

ibisOffice 0.8.3 adds a desktop app for Linux, and many new features for .docx, .xlsx and .pptx files. macOS, Windows, Linux and the web version are all 0.8.3.

Changes

• Linux: a desktop app (64-bit x86_64; Ubuntu 20.04, Debian 11 or later) as a single AppImage that needs no installation and no FUSE, with automatic update and command-line export to PNG and PDF.
• Title bar: Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons and dragging the window by its title bar on Linux and Windows (#7). Pinch to zoom on a macOS trackpad (#2). The font list is built from the fonts on your computer (#5).
• Documents (.docx): Mail Merge, equations, drawing shapes and connectors, Compare Documents, a grammar and style checker, index and table of authorities, picture bullets, a blank page, and a dark page view.
• Spreadsheets (.xlsx): open .xlsb and password-protected .xls files, save as .xls and .ods; Waterfall, Histogram, Pareto, Funnel, Box & Whisker, Treemap and Sunburst charts; slicers and timelines, form controls, the IMAGE function, Page Layout view, and moving and editing up to row 1,048,576. The formula bar and cell editing work like Microsoft Excel's.
• Presentations (.pptx): open .ppt and .odp files, equations, Outline view, the Draw tab, WordArt, and a Notes pane you can show, hide and resize.
• .docx and .pptx: 100% zoom now shows 1 pt as 1 px, as Microsoft Office for Mac does.
• 0.8.2 was released for macOS and Linux only; this release has the same features for every platform.

See CHANGELOG.md for the full list.
