Markdown export

Quarkdown documents can now be exported to GitHub Flavored Markdown via the new --render markdown or --render gfm option, producing .md files.

This plays an important role in AEO optimization, as AI agents usually prefer Markdown to HTML. Multi-target compilation allows shipping sites in both formats from the same source.

The new .markdown function lets you include raw Markdown content when exporting to Markdown.

Built-in llms.txt support

llms.txt is a Markdown file at the root of a site that curates the most useful entry points for AI agents and LLM-based crawlers, giving them a reliable map of the documentation.

The new .llmstxt function generates an llms.txt at the site root, listing every subdocument as an absolute link.

Code block primitive

.code is now a primitive, so it can be intercepted via .extend {code} to customize the appearance of every code block in the document.

The following snippet hides line numbers on every JavaScript code block:

Load data from JSON files

The new .json {path} function loads a JSON file and returns its content in a shape you can query and iterate.
