What's changed
This beta adds an experimental sign-in method, the Google master token. The browser extension stays the default and recommended method, and existing setups keep working as before.
Please test it and report back. We especially want to hear whether master-token setups stay signed in longer than cookie setups. Include debug logs and diagnostics with any report.
Warning
The master token uses an unofficial Google sign-in flow, which Google may change or block at any time. It gives lasting access to your whole Google account, not just Nest, and is stored in your Home Assistant configuration and backups. Treat it like your password. To revoke it, change your Google password.
🚀 Features
- Add experimental Google master token sign-in (#670). Built from @CaelanBorowiec's #532 and @ljmerza's port of it. You sign in once at
accounts.google.com/EmbeddedSetupand paste the single-useoauth_tokencookie. Home Assistant exchanges it for a master token and mints Nest access tokens from it. It stops working when you change your Google password or Google signs it out for security reasons, and Home Assistant then asks you to re-authenticate. See the README for the steps. You can switch an existing entry with Reconfigure.
